Rom Upgrade And Back Up !!!

Like most of us here I upgrade ROM frequently So my question is how do you bring back your old data. I do use SPB back but problem is it change all they stuff including registry and twicks from new ROM to old way including GPS setting Icons etc so there is no meaning of new ROM . So I need your opinion that how do you guys doing this ? Some time I manually install all old program one by one which very time consuming and boring.
