Can't answer phone

I have a strange problem with the stock OEM pack for VZW CDMA Touch Pro. Sometimes (still trying to make this be repeatable) when an incoming call arrives, I am unable to answer the phone via any means. Can't answer on BT headset, can't tap answer key on screen, can't press hard answer button. THe phone ignores all of the above.

I am trying a new SYS (21015) as of this morning for other reasons - not sure if this will fix it but I suspect the problem is with the OEM pack, not the OS - and I'm trying with the sliding pickup option in phone settings enabled. Will report if any of the above change the problem.

I nearly always have Bluetooth on, though not always with a connected hands-free device (though it doesn't seem to matter if there is a device connected or not - I can't answer the phone when this happens with the hands-free answer button either).

Soft reset always makes the problem go away though it returns eventually.

Any thoughts?

Re: Can't answer phone

i had the same problem last week. i just did a hard reset. then yesterday i found this post. seeing i did a hard reset idk if it works.

origional source: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=40427

"Issues with answering your phone when a data connection is open (answer buttons don't do anything)? Looks like a tweak messes up a registry key that affects this. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings], make sure SuspendResume is set to #777 (not anything containing GPRS). This issue seems to be related to Advanced Config."

Re: Can't answer phone

Awesome - I will try this. I have used Advanced Config and do inteed have the string "GPRS_BYE_IF_DEVICE_OFF" in that field instead of #777.

4th replacement TP for me coming tomorrow, and this is one of the reasons. Luckily it happened while a 'In store tech' was checking it out!

Stock ROM, Custom ROM, Doesnt matter. It seems like the drivers for my front panel crash alot taking out all the input for the whole device. Sometimes it recovers on its own after about a minute sometimes it doesnt and a soft reset is required.

Always seems inbound call related. Always.

Dont think its your files. I think its thephone. This current one (3rd) did it fresh out of the box on the third restart.

EDIT: Ok, maybe not always but I most of the times I recal its nearly always. I think there was time but not sure.....

Wow - that blows. I have not seen that problem (all front panel input dead). I have seen the OS lock up for 20-30 seconds at a time, but Treos I had did this as well - I believe the radio gets to sometimes take over the CPU and take control of the phone for a few seconds. My Treo 750 (CDMA / PALMOS with stock ROM) would lock up at least 2-3x a week (occasionally 2-3x a day) and need to be reset. I am having much better luck with WM6.1.
