BUt that aside... If you are on VZW you shoudl run a PP no more than 12. Antying else is a waste. I think stock PP of 6 is more than enough if your ROM is tuned. I know this will spark the bioggest debate of all time but.... Its just my observations
Scott, At the risk of starting a fresh debate, I am curious why you say 12. I am new to understanding pagepool but wonder why you say it is a waste? Can the OS not use any more?

Re: Verizon Touch Pro w/ Mighty Rom - Out of Memory??

Why did Verizon remove so much memory from their Touch Pro? Did it really save them that much money? I know what it feels like to not have enough memory (former mogul user) Poor Verizon users!

Re: Verizon Touch Pro w/ Mighty Rom - Out of Memory??

i'm currently running gc's rom ( 2.1.4 ). very fast and good on memory usage. i'm on a sprint tp, but this rom would probably work well on a vzw tp. as long as you set the pagepool relatively low ( i would go with 8 ). after you flash, you can also play with advanced configuration and see what cache numbers work best for you. when i had my verizon tp, i had it set at 4mb filesystem cache, 65536 filter, and 32k glyph.

i think their plan was to push the tp as a business device (no tf3d), since they were banking on the storm to be their main consumer toy. if you turn off tf3d on the vzw tp, it's actually very usable. kind of an upgrade to the samsung i760. plain, boring, very verizon.

From what I have understood they didn't REMOVE memory they simply apportioned it to the radio instead of the program memory. Not sure exactly why but I would guess they expect to roll out some new wireless technology in the future that might need that ram for the Radio Rom.

Thats what I have read but Verizon has always in the past been reluctant to let us install a lot of software that would enable us to bypass their PAY services.

Who knows what the real answer is? All I know no matter what answer is correct it will be wasted RAM because even if they intended to add some new wireless service to the radio section at the rate Verizon moves we will all have 10 Ghz phones by then...Right about the time Verizon gets around to releasing the TP2! LOL

For the record I am running MightyRom 4.16 with a 12 Mb PP and the phone rarely gives me an out of memory error.

IF you need more try disabling MS Voice Command.

Re: Verizon Touch Pro w/ Mighty Rom - Out of Memory??

I use a Verizon Touch Pro. If you go to the link in my signature I made a posting that optimizes Mighty Rom and answers other questions too. I run my Page Pool at 6 and turn off the HTC dialer and get about 50 megs of Ram Free leaving Voice Command on.

Also I had a heated debate with someone who apparently worked on the Touch Pro Verizon and he said it was because of the battery. They fealt the ram they left in it was sufficient and helped with the battery issues.
