Is there a ROM exactly like the Sprint Stock ROM, but includes Arcsoft?

Hey all,

I am starting to get more interested in flashing. However, I like the stock Sprint Rom, and like to add my own apps from scratch.

But, I REALLY would love the newest version of Arcsoft that flashers are able to use...

That being the case, is there a ROM out there that is just the same as the Stock Sprint ROM that ships with the Touch Pro, however, A working version of Arcosoft is added?

How time-consuming would that be for one of you 'experts' to do?

P.S. I can bet that this custom ROM would convert a lot of people who normally wouldn't have jumped to the 'other side.'

just download eRice's latest kitchen, extract the kitchen, go into the OEM folder and find the Sprint - carrier folder. then edit the config_operator.txt and remove
" CAB: \Windows\Sprint Picture Mail.cab " and save and your good. Now just run Start Kitchen.cmd follow the on screen instructions. Then flash fone, then install archsoft cab and enjoy!

Good idea!

I guess I need to jump in head-first... My only fear was if something happens to the phone and Sprint *****es about the modded rom (since a hard reset won't bring back the stock rom, I assume).

Tempting....Very tempting.... I may give this a try later!

Any other thoughts?

I think I posted in the Arcsoft thread. Many of these custom ROM's can be made to look almost identical to Sprint's interface. I know I like the Sprint look and feel too, I just hated the horrible functionality(or lack thereof) of Picturemail and the sluggishness of the interface itself.

If you don't wanna go the route of creating your own ROM yet, I can post the files I used on MightyROM to make it look like Sprint's. It took me, I believe just 5(maybe 6 as I think I may have used 2 clock files to get the transparent look) files to duplicate the Sprint look(slider icons, slider itself, flipclock, background image and background on all pages cab). Below is the result(think I posted this in the other thread too)...

And yes, I installed and use Arcsoft(the one made for Sprint specifically) without issue on MightyROM

I actually found the text file that mentioned CAB Picturemail under CONFIG_AP.txt under

....\erice kitchen\eRice 20931 Touch Pro Kitchen - 1.03.7\OEM\OEMAPPS

the file had: CAB: \WINDOWS\PictureMail.CAB in it....

I think that's what you were talking about...

If you want a sprint rom with arcsoft, why not just add arcsoft to the sprint rom?

See, that's the issue - once sprint's picmail app is installed - it taints the rom until a hard reset. That it, Arcsoft will never work properly once sprint's mpic mail is installed (even when uninstalled).

Thanks; that looks great!

However, ot sounds like Nanoware was talking about taking a sprint ROM that is already ripped, and simply telling it not to install the SprintMMS cab during initial setup. Technically, wouldn't that be the cleanest way to get the sprint stock rom WITHOUT the picmail installed....?

Yea it would if you wanna go that route. I played around with the Kitchen program and it seems simple enough. However I didn't actually flash my phone with the resulting RUU file, so I can't tell you if I did things right

It seems that the TP installs the sprintmms.cab during that long 'customization' sequence after a hard reset.....you know, where sprint adds all of their cabs.

I am trying to find a way to prevent just the sprintmail app from being installed by corrupting the actual cab, or by telling the phone not to install it somehow.... without flashing - that is....
