Snappy, yet bare. The real only GREAT thing about this rom is the Today screen. It's stylish and informative, but I know i've had roms that are snappier. I think I will be going back to juicy's TP2, but I really like where 6.5 is going for an everyday user. It's going to be a good OS. Nice work on the ROM, no real issues, just not for me:)

Thanks Scott

1) Opera works great, but IE6beta will not load any page. It's like it can't see the network, but never gives an error.
2) Cosmetically, the network says it's "Sprint". I've actually had a case where it shows both Sprint and Verizon. I may go back to just using the Verizon only carrier, rather thenthe Generic.
3) I have a couple apps installed like Update PRL and Update Profile. Are these Sprint apps? Are they supposed to be there? If I run one by accident is it going to screw something else up?
4) Diamond TF3D Tweak utility does not work.
5) I need to disable the startup sound. I have tried Advanced Configuration Utility but with it set to disabled, it still sounds off. Phone reboots for backup each night twice. I don't wanna' get woke up by this.

Thanks Bob... but...

1) I chose Verizon for my carrier, so they shouldn't really be installed: I don't need extraneous apps in my settings tab, or anywhere for that matter. The .exes are found in _OEMAPPS folder, and I suspect if I delete them, they won't find a home in my next build.

2) Like I said, I have cooked more builds than I care to mention, and I have yet to see this happen. I will see if it's a reoccurring problem and report.

Anyone else having a problem when typing in the "To" field in the WM New SMS screen?

If I type "Ni" in the To: field, I see the WM name suggestions show up just under the To field and the HTC suggestions just above the keyboard.

Before this kitchen I would be able to just typ "Ni" and hit enter to send a SMS to Nicole. Now I have to hit the "Nicole" that is listed in the WM contact suggestion dropdown. If I just hit enter (selecting the HTC suggested contact) and try to send, I get an error saying Text Message cannot be sent. The failed msg shows up as being sent to someone else beside Nicole as well.

Obviously not a show stopper though. I am using the 21042 OS w/ the TP2 manila, Sprint carrier.

1) I said the same thing earlier....maybe the boss is listening.
2)Please do. My personal opinion is it's a hardware issue. If the temp sensor gets too hot....it stops the charging. Scott differs - he thinks it's software...It could be a combination.. If the sensor "says stop" it's got to tell the software to do it.

I did.

I just tried disabling everything "auto..." and "...completion..." in touch input settings and disabled auto correct in the Word Completion settings. Didn't work, same thing happened.

Tried a soft reset after making rhe changes too, no good.

This is a Stock Hybrid Sprint SYS, FormerPalm's 20771E XIP, tried making it in your kitchen but it wouldn't let me so I had to make it Calkulins (i'll try to figure out why it would let me make it in yours later, and a bunch of OEMs (some of which I made and some from you kitchen too) Thanks for helping with a bunch of my questions!!

Great work Scott. ROM is fast!

1. Try again. Works for me. I have hard reset and tried again, still not working. Just brings up a blank page. I've tried putting in several websites with no errors, but nothing but a blank page either.

2. Cosmetic, your right. Cool. I won't worry about it then. Works great otherwise. =)

3. They are not installed if use generic carrier. If you are on sprint you have to run the provionsing cab to make them active. Even if they are active and try to use them you will never connect to the sprint network unless you are on sprint. Secondly if you did connect to the sprint network your still not on there service so it will just fail. Not a problem. I'm assuming you meant "are only installed". I used the generic carrier and I did get these installed. Not a big deal if I know they won't hurt anything. I doubt they are big at all, and just makes it easier for you to get everybody working. So consider this a non-issue for me. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna' break something LOL.

4. CAn you give more detail? And are you trying to use it with TP2? Yeah, sorry. No TP2, just standard TouchFlo OEM. Rather then flash TF3D Tweak Utility it in the kitchen, I just tried installing after. I haven't tried flashing it in the kitchen because I like installing all the seperate after the fact. That way I know Sashimi drops it back in if I choose to play with someone else's ROM for a weekend that didn't have it.

5. You need to look for Phone enable / disable sound. Its not a start up sound but does happen to play when the phone starts up so it would appear that way. In registry, or in Advanced Configuration Utility?

Question!
If a Verizon Touch Pro user wants to cook using the 1.6 kitchen...
Desires a "snappy" quick build, that has all of those goodies Scott has a knack for adding to his custom kickA*S ROM's. What build would be the ticket?

This is a trick question: Reading lost of posts...
at 1st thought maybe 21042, but it looks like lots of adjustments need to be made.

Scott, any suggestions? I'm very patient and can wait if need be for you to re arrange your kitchen to your personal likings, to keep that feel you have incorporated into the majority of your kitchens.

If its all good as is, what build might you suggest I try to build and flash next to be cutting edge.

Thanx,

Read Post # 580 and #721. 580 has modified tweak files attached. 721 has a revised cab attached. I'd suggest renaming the cab or you will get confused with the standard version and the "customized" TP version.

Hmmmm, well.... Go with the R4R ROM if you dont want to cook. Otherwise, I would cook something like 210764, 20954, 20931, or 21042.
Those in my opinion, as well as 21038 are good builds.

I dont think there is anything wrong with 21042. I did however leave the Java SYS files in from Boreds kitchen so that will cause conflict if you pick the Java in the selections.

I preonsally run 21042 now. I like it alot. Each person will have there own preference and level of acceptance to SYS files. Start off with 20764 and I bet you will be happy and not go any further.

1. Righ tlike i said if you are on sprint they will work if not then they wont. And if you are on sprint you need to install the cab in the SSK folder to make them work. I left them there on purpose. They are not hurting anything and you cannot hurt your phone with them. It was a royla pain in the *** to get them out so I just left them as Sprint seemed to have a great base to work with.

QED - DA

Your talking 102 Kilobytes.
They are NOT linked to the control panel items although you may feel they are. They become linked when you install the sprint provisoning cab. Otherwise they are just harmless icons. aThey take 102,000 BYTES. Thats pretty insignificant.

If you do decide to remove then please dont complain about the two missing icons that look like blank Windows in the control panel in there place ;c( That was the issue I had. Then when you go and install them again you will have two icons. THink back to 1.5. Thats why I went this route. But its not hurting anything other than the two PRL icons.

Im thinking about re-basing off from the Alltel ROM so it would exclude that next time. But for now this is fine, well to me anyways.

If you also decide to delete those you need to find the hidden proxml that places them there. I am not sure which one it is but its something like inititflashfiles.dat. Note that its .dat and not .txt like normal.

Correction: Its NOT in the initflash.dat. I thought it was. I will keep looking.... I KNOW it can be taken out. I did it once.... Hold on....

I cant find it but I know its in there somewhere. I searched and searched and searched and could not find it then found it one day when I wasnt looking for it.

Screw it... Alltell, here I come!

Using SSK 1.6 with 21042_1_9_3, is there a limit on how many OEM's I can cook in. It seems like after 8, it wont generate a rom.

Incorrect. The original CAB from the write had the XML but when I OEM'ed it I removed it. Hence you would open the app, it did not crash but you had no tweaks.

Exactly! No limit as far as I know. But keep in mind there is a ROM limit of what I suspect to be 128 Megs. I never actually got to the level of pushing it any further than that. Like down to the KB or anything.

Incorrect. The original CAB from the write had the XML but when I OEM'ed it I removed it. Hence you would open the app, it did not crash but you had no tweaks.

Ok, I stand corrected, SIR

Scott, great ROM (I loaded RUU_SSK16_21042_gen). A few observations/questions:

1) "Activesync" and "start" are always running. Is that a problem? I suppose it might be if it is always using my data connection. I do need to sync to exchange.

2) There seems to be a glitch in the text messaging portion of the rom. If I click "All Messages" it brings me to the regular texting screen. If I tap on the text message, a white screen comes up with a Messages box in it and I can't do anything.

Thank...keep up the great work.

Thank you.

1. No, they shoudl always be running. They are just not in the excluded apps list. Start is AKA TouchFlow3D. Active Sync is just that.

2. Can you try a soft reset and text mstuff again please?

If you hate them so much, why did you change to Sprint?

Yes, I'd like to see AutoRun removed. With it in there, I have to remove my SD card before it will finish customizing, and I don't know what I'm missing.

I think you should also put the pedometer app in there. It would be fun for you when you're with your wife mall shopping. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but it's good for fun. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=458606

If I think of any more, I'll let you know.

Good news on point 1. Did a soft reset and had my wife send me a new text message. Message showed up. Pressed the screen, up popped that white window. It has four icons on the bottom, looks like "contacts", "SMS", email and "guy w/a phone" . Press the Text message balloon icon --- nothing. press and hold it, a grey screen appears with "Messages" in it - goes back to the white screen when I take finger off. Clicking on the Top rectangle does nothing. It says Messages on the left and an empty contact picture on the left. Pressing "Menu" also does nothing.

Thanks for the lightening fast response.
