[How To] Back up Bluetooth device pairing info (also converting .REG to .CAB)
Hello all,
For all of us busy flashing our devices several times a week, here is a great tip. I am able to use SDConfig.txt to re-install a few applications that I use and the Provisioning XML settings produced by Advanced Config. That brings me up to speed after a flash rather quickly. But... I still have to pair all my devices (a bunch of headsets, my car's bluetooth connection, my PC, etc). The bluetooth device pairing information is located in the registy (HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/Device). All you have to do is backup this registy portion and restore after a flash or a hard reset. You can even automate this using SDConfig.txt. 1. Download CeRegEditor and install on your PC. 2. Connect your devide via ActiveSync and fire up CeRegEditor. Locate HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/Device, right click on "Device" and select "Export". Save as bluetooth.cereg or any other name on your Desktop. 3. Within the CeRegEditor menu, select "Conversion/REG -> CAB" and convert bluetooth.cereg into bluetooth.cab. 4. Add the CAB that you have just created to your SDConfig.txt and you're done. Enjoy! Fabio Last edited by fabioc; 02-09-2009 at 12:56 AM. Reason: Solution found... |
