That's two days of hard use and one night of random drunk idiots checking it out. Still solid as a rock - no memory leaks, no lock-ups, no missed or dropped calls, push e-mails coming in fine, Active Sync working fine, Bluetooth working fine, etc. I will report when I do have to soft-reset the thing.

Scott - I think it was definitely the right call to go back to the 1.2 OEM pack. The way you split that out was spot-on. If you know of a way to generate a directory tree that I can upload, I'd be happy to generate the listing for my modified kitchen. Next step if you want to speed things up is to prune files out of the itchen. For example, in HTC Keyboard, you don't need all the layout files and bitmaps for the other languages. That's about 30 files that can be pulled out of Windows. Of course if you don't install the HTC keyboard anyway, that's about 100 files pulled out of Windows...

Thanks for the compliment. I went back to it just for tha reason. It was more stable and ready to just be modified slightly. I then upgraded the XIP to E2 stable and it just feels good at 12 PP. I then cleaned up the OEM's a bit more and upgraded GPS dirvers. Thats about all. Why start screwing around with a good thing? I even tested YouTube on every build and it worked each time ;c)

Thanks again for the feedback! Greatly appreciated and well taken.

I thought about this and it was discussed any moons again in a thread from far far away. At that time I decided that I would keep the language packs in because many ethinc types may use this ROM. Especially now so that I have made it multi carrier.

Now, if you went ahead and made the default language files a selection that can be added to the kitchen that is something that I would go for.

Thanks!

I agree. I think that 99.99% of your users are English-speaking. In the next version, you could label the kitchen as N. American Kitchen, and only keep the languages for Spanish, French (for the French-Canadians), and English. If you wanted to satisfy all, a duplicate Kitchen called "International Edition" could contain all languages.

I'm going to try that with the kitchen you post, and just hope that I don't break something.

Nah, you wont break anything. If you split out the files try to hold on to them so I can make an OEM for the kitchen. I think that would be a nice addition for power users.

Will the "Slide to Answer" from the 1.4 ROM be included with the kitchen or the cooked ROM? I am loving the combination of the S2U and The HTC Slide to answer.

So what is the verdict on 20764 vs 21109? Which ROM is more stable? I've been running 21109 for three days... I'm very happy to report it did NOT lock up on me overnight this last night (which it has done the three days prior). However, I was checking and replying to emails and all of a sudden the phone started running verrrrrryyyy sloooowwwwwwly necessitating a soft reset.

Funny thing is I ran SSK 1.2 for a long while and didn't have any issues but then right around the time beta 1.4 came out I started having issues. I have not added or taken out ANY apps nor changed any settings that I can think of.

Pisses me off that it was working fine and then started getting all temperamental. I don't blame the ROM or the kitchen, I'm sure it's a software clash or what I don't know.

Still, overall, I seem to be having better luck with 21109 so far.

I agree that 21109 is stable and fast. I stayed with it and just basically re-made 1.2 with the new GPS GPS drivers from the previsou beta 1.5 Beta2 and added things like the ability to pick splash screens, boot animations, carriers, an additional generic black HTC Manila theme. Its like the animated one but not animated. I upgraded the engine to the latest angine so it runs faster now than it did on the beta.

I also have ROM plug in packs that I will upload a few days after the kitchen is out. These plug in packs will include build 21139 aka: WM6.5 and a 20764 plug in pack. You will just need to replace your MO and SYS folders from the kitchen to the build you want. I have integrated the three builds fairly seemlessly with the core kitchen files and OEM pack.

Question for Anyone - I have noticed that when I download a zipped file, it's usually "RAR", not "ZIP". Why do developers use that? Is it because it's not a compressed file like ZIP is?

Thanks,,
Bob
