Learn to walk before you can run...

Here's the definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Execute_in_place

and LONG story short, Former extracts the address table within the XIP and optimizes it for better and faster execution of modules.

he also removes bunch of crap left in there that aren't used. It's not a big deal for Sprint TP users but it's a MUST for Verizon TP users...

Re: CDMA Touch Pro XIPs 20764 20771 20954 21015 21018 21028 21109

hmm, i have a ROM and a SYS folder. I am guessing that I run a kitchen, make a ROM, then after it is done cooking, drop these in and overwrite what it made, then flash? or is there a manual way to do it outside of during a ROM flash?

just my guess as I know nothing about XIP and the wiki link did not have instructions as it is just a generic description

thanks

Re: CDMA Touch Pro XIPs 20764 20771 20954 21015 21018 21028 21109

more info for everyone............

21038 is a fake build, base off 21032. it is a fake though.

The latest SYS right now out there is 21040. It is on the Topaz, and it is a HTC Beta ROM, while they test everything out. I do not yet have this SYS. So I can not say anything about it. I am sure it is a good build though.

once again 21032 was a hybrid Build. with a 21028 XIP, It was the same way on QVGA, WQVGA, VGA, and WVGA. I have all 4 builds. and something tells me there will be another one leaked today on XDA, QVGA, 131 DPI. It will be once again a 21028 XIP though.

It is a hybrid SYS, but it is a very fast SYS anyways.

hope this is some good info for everyone hehe

Re: CDMA Touch Pro XIPs 20764 20771 20954 21015 21018 21028 21109

Thx again for good info Conflipper.

Jucy - our friend lllboredlll figured out that if the file attribute on the shortcuts placed into \Windows\Start Menu\Programs isn't Read-Only, it will flicker. He changed flickering icons to Read-Only and solved the problem. I don't know if the app install process is supposed to set this and isn't, or if the developer who makes the cab applies these attributes to the link in the cab. I suspect the latter as I have a mix of S/R and non-S/non-R attribute files installed on my device. But on my 20771 build, changing the attribute doesn't cause the flicker to appear.

Anyway, this might be an acceptable band-aid for the problem for now.

Don't know on the settings issue. I can move a shortcut to settings and it shows up in the control panel like it's supposed to. But some apps don't like being called from there (XT9MyWords for example) for some reason - will lock-up when you exit the app.. Same app, everything else the same, link placed in \Programs and it works fine.

I tried 21032 & 21028.

21032 booted.
21028 did not boot.

So I am using your 21032 XIP and it works mighty fine...
