Yes, but sometimes there are things left over from a previous rom and a manual hard reset usually resolves wierd issues. But as I said, for me, my really bad lag I had when I first got my second phone was resolved right after a flash to a custom rom. If you have tried 5 different roms and you are still having what sounds like abnormal lag, I have to conclude that your phone is defective.

Keep in mind that if you are exagerating, you won't help your issue. You have to come to expect a certain amount of lag on WinMo phones. The most serious lag usually comes with opening text and or emails, album/songs and stuff similar that are in basically a database. However, anything more then 3-5 sec lag is to much. You said it takes minutes to pullup your text. There is nothing on this phone that should take near that long.

Make sure to backup using PIM backup or a similar program first...

if all else fails you are welcome to try this ROM. it was cooked in eRice's kitchen and has been stable and quick on my touch pro ( build date 11/06/08 ). it is basically stock with the page pool set at 16mb. it has both picturemail and sprint tv updates. i did take some things out and added a few other (resco explorer 2008, hTorch, psShutXP and SRS WOW HD).

as always use at your own risk

Re: Tried different roms but still laggy..

i think you need to relax, because my phone is the same. i also have sprint, and flashed to every available rom out there. i have had lags with every one. for example, when moving from one tab to another took a few seconds longer than the stock roms to load up. i have kinda given up on the touch pro. i got a blackberry, but i am thinking of getting rid of it and continueing to figure out how to deal with the touch pro. i wish someone would come up with a way to get blackberry messenger to the touch pro. also is there a way to get push email onto the touch pro?? id love for my gmail emails to come to my phone the same fast as the backberry. please advise. i will be flashing to some new rom today, we shall see what that does for me. but ur def not the only one having issues.

I'm not really sure this is possible, doesn't flashing a ROM work like formatting the hard drive in your computer??

Did you know that when you format a hard drive, all your information is still there? Thats right! It goes no where. It is just hidden from windows. The only true way to remove that info is to overwrite it...just an FYI

Re: Tried different roms but still laggy..

Ok Here is my 3 cents.

As fare as the hard reset? Its good voodoo, so why not. However it makes no sense to me why it would do somehting different, unless their was some failure in the initial flash, a 0 became a 1

I agree I have gotten results from many ROMS that seem to be quite different than what other people are reporting, or maybe I'm picky. I have always cooked my ROM using the PPC Kitchen without fail but, I am having difficulties getting a build that does not have some major performance issues. The sole source of performance issues seem to be running anything other than the stock TF3D in my case I sure like some of the other variants that strip out SPRINT's stuff.

I have settled on nueROM ( http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/ ) and my most satisfying results have been using his kitchen files. The donation has been worth it, I have used the neuApps and was glad to have contributed. For the most part the UI is responsive with just under 1 second max lag, usually when closing apps. TF3D once it has been used and everything is in cache is like BUTTER. I don't let apps close and I rarely actually exit an application.

If you read around you can find many good tips for improving the performance.
However, my current ROM is the stock 216 build of nueROM, no tweaks at all. The only downside is it is not setup how I like but the performance RULEZ! Just don't reset the phone a lot, it runs better the longer I use it, to a point.

Scott

Yea, it just changes the directory structure. If all the info was really gone then the "data recovery" programs would not work as well as they do.
