Important! Rom COOKERS! READ!

OK... I was not not able to cook my own roms due to me getting a g'reloc error that wont let my roms boots. I tried everything and I did not find a solution. Reason for me trying to cook was to find out what made Juggs 4.0 clean rom run soo much smoother in 2d rendering. I dug deep on this one boys! I stripped down his nbh and analyzed everything in ther and studied his reg entries. Soo.. finally I came to a conclusion. The reason why his rom runs alot better in 2d than any other roms in here... is he cooked in Omnia 3d Drivers! Yes! Thats it. They do make a different! There is a cab floating around here and XDA but for some reason they dont work unless you cook them inside the nbh file. I tried trust me! ANd I was never able to get them to work. So for you fure rom cookers... take a look a Omnia d3d drivers and cook them in! It will make your roms render 2d alot better! Opera runs 3 times smoother than the stock d3d drivers! So who will be first to attemp this? I wish I could do it myself but the kitchen dont work for me. :(

Re: Important! Rom COOKERS! READ!

BTW! To show you all that I am serious! Here is the list of custom roms i have tested and compared to see if any of these have the Omnia drivers and NON DO!

JDTP7.1
Hibby's ROM 1.7 36MB Dynamic PP
Juggalo TP ROM V0.04.04B Sprint
eRice ROM 1.04.5
IVAN'S SPRINT MANILA TP ROM v1.2
Juicy_4_5_Herman

None of these have the Omnia Drivers!

Only Juggs 4.0 Clean Rom has them. I checked in his reg and under d3d he has the drivers in there!

Well.. if thats the case.. cook them on one of your test roms. And see if your Opera runs as good as his. Can you show me where the 2d drivers are located in the reg? I figured since he has "Local Hook" is directed to Omnia drivers could be the cause of such a huge inprovement in his 2d rendering with Opera. Also.... with proper faster 3d drivers your 2d pages like in Opera do increase in speed.

I suggest all rom cookers to study Juggs 4.0 clean rom. He has nailed down 2d rendering pretty well. Its 3 times faster and smoother than any other rom. I am a noob when it comes to cooking. I have attempted but the kitchen is fruitless for me. So I need you all who have the knoledge to study his nhb.Good luck, god speed!

2d rendering for vid is called qtv.dll or something like that. im unsure if it handles 2d for OS as well.

any how i installed these drivers lets see how they bench. as far as the cab goes there are no driver dll's located in it.

Been there , done that. Installing these drivers of a cab wonk work. They need to be cooked. I read it over at xda.

oh yah for sure that cab has no drivers its a bunch of D3D samples lol

check your programs folder ;)

and you can install a d3d driver via cab just have to soft reset after

also ive been using a beta d3d driver for a while now and i have had nothing surpass it. Omnia was great for 2d but sucked monkey nutz for 3d

Ok.. this is the driver he has under his d3d reg entry. This is the cab file in which dont work if you install them thru the cab procedure. But it does enter the driver.

Alot of ppl over at xda have said that installing these drivers wont do the trick. you need to cook them in.

Ok so i cooked these drivers in, it runs better on 2d, but 3d sucks something horrid. the billboard d3d sample barely runs with them. were as before with my other d3d drivers it ran smooth as butter.

And this is the problem that video card makers run into all of the time. There is always a give and take to just about anything. Make 2d run better and you might lower 3d and vice a versa. It's a balancing act.

What billboards are you talking about?
I wanna try them myself to see if theres something jugg did to eliminated thjat 3d iddue. So you agree that 2d, specialy opera 9.5 runs at least 3 times smoother?

its the other cab in the xda thread

ill give you that the omnia drivers work amazing for everything els. just horribly slow on the full blown 3d rendering :(

Ohh I see! I just tried them on my Stock GF pro. Anyways.... I just tried Dreams rom and its as bad as the Stock sprint Opera. Very jerky performance on opera 9.5

your sig is creative and cool... the first time i see it. after that, i find that it takes up too much screen space.

I just tried all those 3d test on the stock and only the 1st 4 worked. The othjers did not. I tried them on dreams Rom and they all worked. Now I will reflash Juggs 4.0 rom and see if his works. If they do.. they he has truly nailed this rom. BRB in 10 minutes.

if he is truely using the omnia software drivers, then Billboards will blow goat, rest will be flawless.

if he is using the hardware driver d3d_ati.dll then the first test will rock and the rest will crash or suck bad.

my benchmark dropped 80 pts im assuming its because 3d isnt as fast. but again the 2d is much better.

Your good juggalo. The 1st billboard test was bad at about 2-3 frames a second. The rest were good to flawless. One thing cought my eye thou.. this is the first time I am running these 3d benchmarks. And the Stock sprint rom and Dreams rom could not render the lighting demo properly. They would render it but without the light being emmited by the floating ball. On Juggs rom.. it does emmit light. This is truly a driver issue for sure. So I canclude.. he is using theOmnia drivers. And Honestly.... I rather have better 2d rendering on my opera more than anyting. TF3d is also blazing fast on Juggs rom. I suspect its the Omnia drivers as well. I dont play many 3d game son this si its not a issue so far. but interresting finds for sure. I thought I was going to be bummed out if Juggs rom would not run none of the 3d demos but only the 1st billboard suffered. So I am very pleased.

2D performance is much better with these driver, manila refreshs faster and in general is a lot smoother. I don't use 3D that much on my phone, so I'll keep these on and if I ever need better 3D performance, I guess I can just change the reg key and soft reset. Thanks for the find

Ya.. took me a while to narrow down juggs performance tweaks, so I finally can rest and now I can try to get the freaking ppc kitchen to work. :(
Btw Calcu, what rom are you using?

So, this seems to be a pretty big find to me, I'm surprised there isn't more of a reaction. So, where does that leave us?

How I see it, is that the device is capable of both good 2d and 3d performance, albeit not at the same time. Someone mentioned early in the thread that developers are always having to make a choice to some degree, which seems to be the case with the different drivers behaving differently on our touch pro with some doing well in one area, but not both.

Why is this? What is the limit to why we can't have both? What is the bottleneck? If we can answer this, then couldn't we have a driver that excelled in both areas? It certainly seems like we should have the hardware to do it.

What do you all think?

Ya, I am just surprised how everyone's rom skips this driver! I use the 2d functions alot more than the 3d. And using these drivers dont mean your killing 3d at all. I have even posted several vids showing this. BRB! Gonna go get the links..

ROFL, wondered how long before someone said something :) I am a lurker and I get really bored at work so I have a crap load of time usually so I surf PPCGeeks  Plus I like to see and learn as much as I can..and help or piss off people depending on my mood. Thought about applying to be a moderator after telling several people today that "it's already been discussed "here"

HAHAHA! Ya.. I have realized that too. But what baffles me is how all the rom cookers for the pro are skipping out on these drivers. Seriously.. who used their 3d more than their 2d on their pro? Internet, tf3d, email, tcpmp, and pretty much everything else besides the 3d games run on 2d. And the Omnia drivers make such a improvement on the 2d area that its rediculous to skip them. I spend about 95% of my day usage on 2d. SO for me... Omnia drivers are a must. I suggest you all to take another peak at my videos i posted about 2 posts ago. Look how much better opera 9.5 runs! Also tf3d is faster .
