Sure.. but do you use that benchmark everyday to go online, and check your email, and see your videos? Not really... thats just a bnenchmark and in reality its useless in real life performance for what the phone is made for. Internet, email, videos and everything 2d related.

No, I don't but what about when I do want to do something that uses 3d. The 3d is so bad with that driver from what I have seen so far. The change you get from better 2d doesn't offset teh amount of 3d you lose. At least so far but, I am using the drivers now from calcu's kitchen to give it a real test.

I tested these back in late november, and didnt like them. I would rather have the 3d over the 2d. it is simple to include the driver though, and then change the registry has you see fit, I also have other sets of drivers. and I have found that better drivers the the d3dm_ati.dll are the offical htc drivers. those are what i am finding better for 3d at this time. but I am always doing more testing.

also the new omnia opera is great to. omnia always had the best opera, since the phone comes stock with flash suppourt, so does opera then. and the latest 15233 is very fast with everything. however due to it being qvga at this time it has limits, i am working on converting it, but it will take time, and i am busy all this week.

I quite like them myself :)

So, educate me guys, I have a question regarding 2d and 3d. When is 3d actually being used?

As it was stated earlier, TF3d uses 2d actually, and not 3d? So when would I see a performance hit by using a 2d accelerated driver? playing skyforce? I'm trying to see what I would actually LOSE by not having the 3d performance.

I remember installing these omnia d3d drivers on my titan, and the fps went from about 4 on the d3d demo to about 90. i'm not comparing the titan to the pro, but am wondering exactly what uses 3d that we might use often? Can anyone post some examples of 3d apps they frequently use?

Thanks!

I agree, in reality we dont use 3d as much as 2d. I rarely play any games that are 3d so for MY needs, Omnia drivers are a must! And so far only Juggs 4.0 rom has them. So i will have to run on his rom until I figure out the freaking kitchen crash i get.

Calc has the option in his kitchen and I believe is now running it in his rom. Dream is going to use it in his next rom it looks like.

Re: Important! Rom COOKERS! READ!

Another thing you cookers can do is .... when you title your roms, maybe in quatations write "Omnia". So then for those who wish to run these drivers instead don t need to try then all.

I'm interested in when 3d is really used as well.
Doesn't seem like a bid trade off to give up 3d for 2d as long as my movies will still play.
Teeter is probably the only 3d game I've played on the phone.

-edit- I just tried Teeter and it's no where as smooth.

I am still running juggs 4.0 rom. I just tried teeter and it runs as go0d as the stock d3d driver. Teeter is actualy 2d. Not 3d. Also .. my google maps and live search maps is a bit smoother. Omnia is for sure running these. I have not tested gps to see if the lag is gone. But I am sure since these drivers are old news to some, that would have been discovered already.

Thanks. Maybe it's something else.
That's the first time I tried it on the Pro. My comparison was to my Diamond.

I've read some posts about "reg tweaks to switch drivers". This seems like a pretty simple Mortscript to give us the best of both worlds.

How would this work? just include both driver dlls, and switch a reg entry pointer?

From my tests..... You need to cook the drivers in the rom to make them work. I have tried just installing them and they dont take effect even thou the reg is pointing to them.

What does cooking the drivers in differ from a manual install?

Has to be something.

It's not a problem overwriting the file since D3DMXSc50PB.dll doesn't come on a sprint device, You should be able to change the pointer at...

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\D3DM\Drivers]
"LocalHook"="D3DMXSc50PB.dll"

...wait a minute and soft reset. But I didn't notice any worthy improvements in the D3DMXSc50PB.dll driver over the stock d3dm_ati.dll driver.

Re: Important! Rom COOKERS! READ!

Dream built the Omnia drivers into his 0.5 ROM, and I can say it's a noticeable improvement over the 0.4's D3D drivers.

TouchFlo3d responds faster and smoother, as does s2u2, and even skyforce, which I thought was a 3d game. Teeter even seems better...

So, AGAIN, when the eff are our devices actually using 3d?

Everyone seems to say that they don't like losing their 3d performance, but WHEN are our devices using 3d? Other than in a benchmarking tool, Give some EXAMPLES!

If all I'm losing is benchmarking tools, then good riddance, I'd rather have all my other stuff be smooth!

I agree with Mr. Burrito. TF3D suns and scrolls a whole lot smoother with the Omnia drivers.

Juggalo just posted a cab with the omnia drivers and a new updated Opera build tweaked for the Omnia drivers.

I tired manually installing. My opera stays the same. Jerky and all. Obver at XDA.. they mentioned several times that you need to cook them in the rom. I dont know why but that seems to be the case from my experiences.

I will check out dreams rom.
And very well put. all I loose in 3d from using Omnia drivers are my benchmark tools. LOL>

Stupid Question:

Doing some general browsing I saw a month old article over at fuzemobility saying the Diamond drivers are better than, I would assume, the Fuze's.
Is that an issue with the Fuze only?

I suppose the info there could be off though since they have a cab that enables the FM Radio too \=?

Ok, I'm game... I've found the 2D scrolling etc. rather poor on my device as well, and wouldn't mind trying to recook my rom with omnia drivers if it will indeed help.

Where is this OEM that I need to cook in? I've found a couple of links to cab files on the first page, but we already concluded that the cab version doesn't work.

Are we expected to use OEMizer first? Why hasn't anyone posted an OEM package to just include into a kitchen?

no one has an oem to post? want to make sure we're testing the same thing...

Would this be the proper OEM that we are talking about here?

I saw your vids. You should do video to show what it does for TF3D. That the reason why I didn't cook in my rom. It was FUGLY!

me too. i just downloaded GC kitchen and would love to cook these drivers into my new rom. i never used the OEMizer before and would love to just be able to drop an oem of this driver into the oem folder. anyone have it? Exil3d? you there?

Re: Important! Rom COOKERS! READ!

OEMizer is pretty self-explanatory. Open it up (might have to find it in tools, not sure how yours is set up), and go through the motions.

I was actually asking because I wanted to make sure we are using the exact same OEM, as a controlled experiment. Since no one got back to me, I OEMed my own, and its chugged along well.

I'll admit, Opera didn't speed up as much as I had dreamed. All this hype really made me think I wouldn't notice even a flicker. Its better, but not as much as everyone is going on about IMO.

My question is, how come people like mighty are using the d3d_ATI one instead?

would it be to much to ask if you can post the oem here for me.

you said that opera runs better. how about tf3d? any other improvements that you noticed? thanks
