thanks everyone! especially SWINN - your recommendations helped me out. i did it! now running 6.5 based on Calculin's kitchen. who the hell knows what the problem was last time but now it's ok and i like it!

so now i again need your assistance folks. i flashed the rom, everything is fine, no extra apps (yahoooo!) but one little thing: i don't really need the TOOLS folder. just internet sharing will be enough for me. so what i want is: 1. to NOT include TOOLS in rom 2. extract INTERNET SHARING to the main menu - this is it. vzw crippled memory you know...:-(

so please post your step by step walkthroughs. i am a newcomer so don't know how it all works in details. thanks guys! you're awesome!

The file you want to edit is initflashfiles.dat which is located in "\OEM\Touch_Pro\0409\OEM_Lang_0409".

I uploaded this for aloha in another place but I figured Id post it here too. Its a 28011 Hybrid SYS with Sense 2.5.2012. Just copy the folders into the root of your kitchen.

None of this is my work just stuff Ive downloaded in popular threads.

some more questions: 1. how to change the icons size in menu? 2. what is "calculin's tweaks"? 3. when i use the Calculin's kitchen there's a list of software items to choose, so if don't include 'em in that list for the future rom does it mean they won't included in the registry of that rom or do i have to edit that too from the kitchen as well to kill the "tails"?

oops! i don't see a file with that name... i can see it from the kitchen editor but i can't find that in the file system. any ideas?

p.s. would be great if you gave me step by steps on this issue:)

A lot of the files will have the system attribute so you will need to tell Windows to show those files.

ok. gotcha! now i see the file but this only brings the internet sharing icon to the main menu... and i'd like to get rid of the TOOLS folder. just to not include that in rom. how do i do that?

What shortcuts are in the tools folder?

One thing I recommend you get is a good file searching program. I use Windows Grep (wingrep.com). It is invaluable when you are searching for a registry entry or a folder like you are doing.

here are the links in TOOLS folder:

battery folder - cabs
manila folder - cabs
CHome editor
sprint extras - cab
titanium radar

that's it. the original cabs are in windows folder. i guess there's a way not to include these program cabs in ROM but just can't make how to do it. the links to these files don't appear in the main list of the kitchen...
and one strange thing i noticed: even though i don't include such programs as opera, google etc. in rom i can see their folders in registry... i guess it's not enough to just leave out the links from the kitchen list, right?

I looked at the kitchen and the stuff being put into the tools folder is from various packages in the EXT folder. You'll need to check the app.dat file in the packages you enabled. The "Sprint Extras" is from the generic carrier, the battery folder is from the rapid charge battery package. The others are pretty self explanatory. Hope that helps.
