Bugs\Fixes\Updates WM6.1 build 20931 kitchen

This a a bug collection thread for the WM6.1 build 20931 kitchen on the HTC Touch Pro. I'll gather gather bugs/updates posted here and in other threads into this first message, so folks don't need to poke all over to find them.

If you have a bug let us know. Please...
:arrow: Be specific.
:arrow: Provide steps to reproduce, including details of any customizations you have made.
:arrow: Post your project file, so relevant BuildOS selections can be replicated.

Note: I still need to perform analysis on updates that occurred 02/08/09 to ensure all bugs listed here are still present.

=== Bugs ===
These are bugs in the WM6.1 build 20931 kitchen.
OEMs:Carriers:
  • Verizon: Verizon startup animation replaces ones set elsewhere in the kitchen.
  • Sprint: The Sprint TV options don't sync with Manila appropriately.
BuildOS:
  • Tools/Calc ROM size causes instability/build issues
  • Clicking the "Manila" and "System" left-hand navbar items fails to direct the user to those sections.
OEM File Overlaps:
Files listed below overlap in different OEMs which may result in problems if OEMs containing them are selected together.
  • setup.dll:
    • FunContact_v2_1
    • Opera9_2649_VGA
    • PIEPlus
    • Update Profile and PRL
    • WMWifiRouter
=== Mis-Information ===
OEMs:
  • Dark vista orb start icon: It's unclear what differs between these two OEMs
  • Diamond Tweak: This OEM is labeled "0.5" but it's RGU indicates "0.5.3".
  • HTC Voice Recorder: This OEM is labeled "1_10_907715_0" but it's RGU indicates "1_10_18181631_0".
  • QuickMenu 2.8.410: This OEM is in the "Applications" group rather than "Task Managers" (I'm also unsure why 2 versions are being kept around)
  • USB To PC: This OEM is labeled "1_5_18171431_1" but it's RGU indicates "2_0_18172128_1".
Updater:
  • Herman 20924: Herman 20924 files are mislabeled as a duplicate 20755.
Non-Raphel Mis-Information:
  • OZ Messenger: This OEM is included in the Titan/Mogul kitchen, for which it is incompatible.
=== Fixes ===
Fixes have been found for the following bugs.
BuildOS:
  • Installation: If the QVGA components are not selected during installation BuildOS will fail to start, giving errors regarding missing directories. Creating the directories...
    • <BuildOS Folder>\Animations\240x320
    • <BuildOS Folder>\SplashImages\240x320
    • <BuildOS Folder>\SplashImages\320x320
    ...manually will allow normal startup.
  • Background images make text difficult to read.: A replacement image / instructions are provided in the linked post.
OEMs:
  • HTC Camera - Diamond / HTC Camera - Raphael: These OEM's initflashfiles.txt files refer to "Seashell.gif" which is file not included in their OEMs. The file is present in the "HTC Vogue Camera_5_07_30568_00" OEM so copying files over and regenerating the DSM files should resolve this. There also seems to be a few other templates, such as "meadow.gif" in the "OEMAPPS_HTC_Camera" OEM, not sure if these can be merged or not yet.
  • Manilla: "HTC Album_InternalStorage" must be selected for TouchFlo 3d's Pictures and Videos tab to work.
  • Manilla - Sprint Raphael:
    • "HTC Album_InternalStorage" must be selected for Pictures and Videos tab to work.
    • Sprint carrier must be selected for required "Sprint TV" installation.
  • HTC Youtube: "HTC TouchFlo" must be installed for "HTC YouTube" to work.
  • HTC Camera - Diamond: This OEM provides no flash options as the Diamond has no flash, use the "HTC Camera - Raphael" option instead.
  • Quickmenu: Quickmenu's "Settings" menu options fail to open some control panels when TouchFlo 3d is active. This can be corrected via the Quickmenu v2.8.410 under "Applications" instead.
=== Updates ===
These components have been updated since the release of the kitchen packages.
Core:OEMs:=== Requests ===
BuildOS:
  • A "Yes to all" option when confirming file overwrites in BuildOS
  • Enable OEMs in the "User_OEM" directory with GUIDs that match those of RAR OEMs to replace the RAR OEM. (this would enable easier patching of OEMs between releases)
OEMs:

Thanks for this great info. Have build a few roms 2 weeks ago, but had some troubles, now I will try again. (Can't wait for more Juicy ROM updates though:)

Not yet. Though if I have a chance I plan to roll through installs of the various Manila options to check if it applies to all the variations or just the "Manilla" one.

SPD Pocket Plus has (for me) the same problem as

SPD Diary
: Drop down menus in the options panes are broken

Using a 4.03 beta version of SPD Pocket Plus corrected the issuewith the drop-down's (I installed a cab over the ROM)

I seem to recall having similar issues in former kitchens for the Apache, though I can't remember the resolution. Needs some more investigation. Are Pocket Plus themes working? I think I remember a related issue with them.

Great post!!
Should be a sticky or at least incorporated into the Kitchen thread.

"Manila: Must select background twice to change."

exactly what does this mean? I can't get it to change. Does this statement mean there IS some kind of way to get that horrible "marble" background replaced???

The ugly marble background occurs from selecting "Background on all tabs". Testing seems to indicate that OEM is broken, and actually makes it so the background can't be changed at all. Its possible we are all just misunderstanding how that OEM is to be used though, for instance it may be possible to overwrite the marble image, so that an other image is used on all tabs.

If "Background on all tabs" is not selected, the backgrounds of the home tab can be changed, but one needs to...
  1. Enter settings
  2. Select a background
  3. Exit settings
  4. Enter settings
  5. Select a background
  6. Exit settings
...after the background is set initially I think other updates may occur with just a single selection but I'm not sure about that.
