Hey all,

Here is an alternative to those that are not used to kitchenizing ROMs, don't like other's custom creations, or are just paranoid about having extra crap on their phone that they don't need.

Well, introducing the eRice ROM. This ROM was built using my Touch Pro Kitchen and has been picked clean of ALL stock programs and left with the bare minimum that the phone needs to operate on, leaving you with the duty of installing all of your own programs.

This ROM is based on build 21109.1.6.0 and runs VERY stable and fast. Also, it seems the unread text messaging issue that was being experienced with 2xxxx build is resolved in this one.

**1/15/09 ** Fixed AKU in build number. Also fixed the Update PRL and Profile buttons in settings. This version should the final and bug-free release.

**1/6/09** Updated SYS to 21109 and added new tweaks to ROM. Still very CLEAN and very FAST

**12/19/08** Removed ALL other extra programs as well as TouchFLO and Picturemail. There should be no extra apps left on the phone. Boots with approx. 155mb RAM

**11/29/08** Returned to stock OEM base; Fixed the issue with the extra folders showing up in Programs; Also removed some extra unneccessary apps

I believe it's 16MB, but not sure. I didn't modify it. You should be able to change it though.

I really want to try this out, but can someone link me to every stock CAB out there just incase i need to install something that was on the stock rom?

Also what is the free ram on boot as well as the free memory with this rom?

I tried it out. Seems nice. Only complaint i have is that i can't select multiple files in file explorer and there are links to youtube and sprint tv on the manila tab, and of course those programs aren't installed. Oh, and the empty folders that it creates in program files.

Also, there is some sort of graphical glitch where tapping on the start menu makes a white bar flash one time, as well as when you click on any of the items in the start menu.

The empty folders have been fixed in the new release. Might wanna try that one as well and see if the multiple files works.

As for the programs in manila, I haven't touched manila yet so those are still there but can still be removed/changed. The start menu thing is prolly something with Enlarge Start Menu. I'll look into that

I couldn't get that program to change the page pool, any suggestions?

EDIT: I'll try re-downloading this one, it worked on Juggalo's ROM so I may have gotten a bad download.

it looks legit. no name customizations from me. basically you could take it to sprint and theyd never know it was a custom rom because i don't have my name plastered all over it. It doesn't look like a sprint stock rom because i removed all sprint apps. if u want to be able to readd some of them back in, you can use my new kitchen. the only stock thing about it is the manila, which i haven't changed yet

Would you consider making a rom/kitchen with the same SYS as the stock rom?

This 2xxxx series sucks. there's always an issue with it and there was nothing wrong with the stock rom to me except for them including a bunch of crap, which would free up a lot of memory if removed.

@eRice: Thanks for the ROM. I really like the fact that it looks just like the OEM version sans bloatware. The ROM is performing nicely, and it allows me to simply add the software that wish to have on my phone--very customizable this way. Very clean indeed!

I imagine he means the original rom has links to myspace and facebook as links under the earth.

opera doesnt come installed, so if you install the cab how do you restore the opera tabs functionality on tf, so if i click opera it will open from the internet tab.

Seems to be looking for a file "OperaL", which of course it cannot find. Sounds like some sort of batch file used to launch the Opera executable.

After trying to use a few different ROMs and also cooking my own, I have reverted back to this one and turned off TF3D in the Today settings. After adding HomeScreen Plus Plus, my TP is running very quickly without lags so far.

Only thing I would like to see are further battery tweaks available. I know this can have a large impact on battery life as I also have a Touch Diamond and Juicy's 3.8 rom increased battery life near 25% for me.

UPDATE: I added the following registry edit to see if it helps battery life.
/HKLM/Drivers/BuiltIn/Battery/PollInterval
VALUE=20000 (Dec)

PREVIOUSLY: VALUE=5000 (Dec)

I found this registry edit helped the Sprint Touch Diamond's battery life and was added to Juicy's future ROMs. I hope it can help the Touch Pro as well.

Do you have any plans to make this ROM UC compliant in the future? I flashed this ROM just to check it out and found it to be very very quick.

Admittedly I increaded the PP to 24 MB Dynamic but this ROM just literally ripped open the programs and settings folders where there is somewhat of a lag on others. I flashed back to one of the UC compliant ROMs mainly because I am experimenting with my install scripts and xml files.

I would love to run this ROM if it were UC compliant.

Have you looked at using Sashimi as a replacement for UC? I find it to be very useful and doesn't depend on a rom having UC. http://www.winmo-experts.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4

I actually had considered it but to be honest I thought it had the same requirements as UC compliance. I'll have to read up on it and use it. I can imagine that that affords one maximum flexibility when deciding on which ROM to flash and test. Thanks for the tip...

BanzaiWolfe...quick question about Sashimi. I have been playing with it some now and am able to get it to autoload my cabs and even configure my email and wireless with Makisu. However, when I reflash and try to launch Autorun, it is not launching. Therefore each time I have to reinstall Sashimi then run Auto. Any assistance would be great.

BTW, I am back using this eRice ROM with a 32 MB dynamic pagepool and I must say I still love the performance.

That's what I've always done...after flash i install sashimi to the storage card, then run it
