With this phone...is a custom ROM necessary?

Certainly having apps and games built-in is convenient but if you're not a habitual hard-resetter (I know a lot are..) the available memory and processing power have eliminated my need for a custom ROM. I do not use TF3D and have more than 80 different items installed and get great performance w/the stock.

I know a lot of folks put a lot of their time and effort in developing these ROMs, so I don't want to take anything away from them, but I'm personally content with the prepacked ROM. It would really take something special to convince me to flash a custom, which I have typically done with previous Sprint windows devices.

This thread has a lot of activity so obviously the interest is there.....just wanted to get some thoughts.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That's all the advice I can give.

What if it's only broken a little? The current devices aren't all that bad, certainly they are loads better than prior devices out-of-the-box, but they do have some nagging little issues.

Is it necessary to go custom? No.
Is it easy, better than stock, and reversible if you don't like it? Yes.

That's the whole question, is that 'a little' enough to start Hard-SPL and flashing and re-installing everything? That's for him/her to decide.

Re: With this phone...is a custom ROM necessary?

Is it necessary to go custom to be content? Yes. YMMV lol
Is it sometimes difficult, not much better than stock, and has potential to irreversibly brick your device ? Yes.

It's all a YMMV... It's been easy for me...only a few years ago was it somewhat difficult, now it's relatively a breeze for most.

Re: With this phone...is a custom ROM necessary?

Eventually, I think we'll start seeing some improvements in battery life and such, when I had the Diamond, Juicy's rom kicked the crap out of the stock rom battery life wise. My reason for custom roms is that I want everything to be perfect so if I don't use it, I don't want it there

Re: With this phone...is a custom ROM necessary?

Most of the custom ROMs seem to be quite a bit snappier.
