What if it's only broken a little? The current devices aren't all that bad, certainly they are loads better than prior devices out-of-the-box, but they do have some nagging little issues.

Is it necessary to go custom? No.
Is it easy, better than stock, and reversible if you don't like it? Yes.

Re: With this phone...is a custom ROM necessary?

Is it necessary to go custom to be content? Yes. YMMV lol
Is it sometimes difficult, not much better than stock, and has potential to irreversibly brick your device ? Yes.

It's all a YMMV... It's been easy for me...only a few years ago was it somewhat difficult, now it's relatively a breeze for most.

Re: With this phone...is a custom ROM necessary?

Since when is the TP 800 mhz? HTC's sight says 600 I thought.

I like my phone to work right out of the box, but in our world now, that will never happen. Corporations will want as much BuLL crap as they can fit on there.
They pay people to make idea's, they might be good or bad, they don't care.

So, when i want to reset my phone. I dont want to spend an hour or two setting things up, i want to spend the 20 mins it took me last night to get it working perfect.

That's the whole question, is that 'a little' enough to start Hard-SPL and flashing and re-installing everything? That's for him/her to decide.

That's the nice thing about a good kitchen...reinstall and customization is little more than a cut and paste away.
