changing rom and reverting back

i'm new to windows mobile. I've spent a good amount of time adding and customizing my stock tp to where i'm pretty happy with it. But I would also like to experiment with new roms (for speed).

If I do a resco backup on stock rom, could I restore it on another rom? (apps/settings etc)

Also can someone give their some thoughts to why TP isn't very responsive compared to over inferior hardware specs such as treo 800w?

Well, the treo 800w isn't running tf3d. Have you tried the tp without that plugin, its pretty fast then. But I used to have the 800w and it was very snappy...not sure what palm did to make it that way.

For a way to restore your settings I would do a search for Sashimi auto installer and take a few hours to get that set up, will save so much time in the future after flashing (http://www.winmo-experts.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4). Because if you use a backup program and then restore to a new rom it can over write registry settings on the rom you just flashed.
