Dumb question about flashing...

OK, when I had the Diamond, I didn't really care about losing files and all my installed apps and flashed 4 times in one week. However, is there any way to flash to a new ROM without losing all your stored apps? I know you can save contacts (the most important) by saving your PIM file, but reinstalling all those games and getting all those preferences the way you want them are a true pain in the behind. The only reason I installed all my stuff on the Touch Pro out of the box was because I didn't expect a custom this quickly.

With all the stuff I've installed and preferences just the way I want them on the Touch Pro, I just wouldn't want to go through all that on a constant basis. Any tips or workarounds?

Re: Dumb question about flashing...

Sprite backup does a decent job, but it also costs $30

No unless you use sprite or spb backup. But those will usually cause issues flashing to a different rom base. So use an auto installer program. I don't use it but you can search for it here on ppc geeks. Its called shamashu or something of that nature. LOL

Re: Dumb question about flashing...

Here are a couple of options for you:

You can use Tiermann Auto Installer. You can install it into the ROM with a kitchen or you can run it manually if you want. Most kitchens have this as an option. More info - LINK

Another option is to make your ROM UC (User Customization) compliant. More info on UC here - LINK

A user here made a mortscript autoinstaller. More info here - LINK

I had used Tier's with my own custom mortscripting for a long time and recently moved to UC and still use my custom mortscripting.
