[Android Froyo][CyanogenMod6-Ports by Neopeek]

So here we go now for CM6-Ports:

The following CM6-Ports are available now:

Link: Froyredux-Port Latest Release 22-07-2010 (Base: RC1 -> will be updated soon)
Link: Froyorider-Port Latest Release 26-07-2010 (Brand-New RC2 -> you should go with this until the other builds are updated to RC2)
Link: Chromatic-Port (Base: RC1 -> will be updated soon)
Link: Official-CM6-Port Latest Release 27-07-2010 (Base: RC2 -> Download Link available on Tue, 20:00[GMT+1])
Link: SuperF-Port Latest Release 27-07-2010 (Base: AOSP with a lil' mix of CM6 -> runs like hell)

As I didn't get much feedback on the several builds I will just wait some days to see what's going on now.

In the meantime I also re-ported Myn's Warm Donut with wifi + 3D-support (thanx to siulmagic aka theunholy).
It's available for download on my site. This one has the famous Theme by BUUF integrated. Here are some screenshots:
http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...shots/buuf.jpg

Now back to CM6. Here are the screenshots of CM6-RC2 (Froyorider-Port):

Quick-Installation-Guide:
Keep in mind! All you do by now you do it on your own risk!!!

EXT2-Partition-Creation:
Here are two videos which show you how to partition your internal memory or sdcard. You will need an EXT2-Partition to get Android booting up.
Video1
Video2

Extraction of Downloads:
1. Here is an old tutorial on how to extract the Gzipped TAR-Archive to your EXT2-Partition (don't forget to unmount correctly or Android won't boot up). You may read several articles / discussions on Neopeek-Network for detailed installation instructions.
2. Unzp latest HARET-PAKET to the root of your FAT32-Partition and pick the right startup.txt and also move it to the root of your FAT32-Partition.
3. Now run Haret.Exe from your File-Explorer

Remember: This originally is still Release Candidate 2 by CYANOGEN. I will update it as soon as new versions are released by the according developers. So expect a heavy release marathon in the next days / weeks with even better builds and stay tuned.

First boot takes quite a long time as PackageManager changes apk's and collects certs. Don't touch your device for minimum 3minutes after bootanimation has gone and you see the setup screen. Just go and have a cup of coffee and let your device do the magic. Second boot-up will be much faster. If you experience a force close during first boot-up on setup-wizard only hit WAIT and don't retouch the device. After you have successfully booted up -> just open up some apps, close 'em again and then reboot your device to get the best performance.

Hints:
BE CAREFUL when trying to activate JIT via Settings->Cyanogen. Your device may get extremely slow for 5mins when activating JIT. So be warned!
Compcache is disabled by default. For enabling compcache open up the terminal and type:
PHP Code:

su
compcache start

You will have to enable Compcache manually each time you reboot.

What works:

WIFI
DATA
BLUETOOTH
3D
PHONE
MESSAGES
THIS & THAT (plz gimme feedback....)

Known Bugs:
Setup-wizard runs twice and crashes on second run.

I am searching for contributors. Wanna join me? Any help is appreciated. Just visit www.neopeek.com and let me know...

Always good to see your posts neo.

How's flashing to NAND goin tho? Progress on your website seems to have stagnated...

He's posting in the TouchPro section, so at the very least that device...

But I think any of the XDAndroid supported devices run this 'ROM'. The zImage (kernel) has been pretty unified for a little while now on *most* HTC devices... (RHOD, RAPH, DIAM, TOPAZ, etc...)

Yes I played around a whole bunch of hours getting it to work. In the end i generated a lot of NBH's which I generated using tinboot. Problem still for me is the touchpanel! Android boots after NAND-Flashing my own created NBH but the touchpanel-screen stays black and therefore it's useless. I already contacted Martin aka DZO to ask for some additional help cause he is the developer of Vogue NAND-Flashing-Method but I still couldn't get it to work. I think someone has to disassemble the WinCE driver and start from scratch to get it working. Perhaps someone reading this is interested and will do the job! Now back to topic...

If you read his posts, there isn't an Android ROM ready for your device... This is just like any of the other builds, it depends on your SD card - but it also requires an ext2 partition on your SD, so it's a little trickier...

Yeah, I was asking a minimal (smaller) WM ROM to flash on device. I already have done the ext2 partitioning on SDCard before (using Paragon)

Oy. There's been a lot of discussion on this as well... Again, it's OT but from all the testing I've done, the WinMo ROM has absolutely no effect on Android performance.

Honestly not trying to haunt you... you just seem to have a knack of asking stuff that's not really related to the OP.

Re: [Android Froyo][CyanogenMod6-Ports by Neopeek]

On topic: It didn't boot..... I created the ext2, extracted the content to this ext2 (and yes, then 2nd partition, the 1st partition was FAT32) I got to a loop, Looking for SDCard or something like that... :(

Testing the SuperF... Going to try another SDCard to see if it boots... Is it supposed to have working camera due to working 3D?

Off topic: I asked him what ROM to use because I have had problems with some builds with specific WM Roms installed on the device, I wanted to make sure I could get the minimal WM Rom that did work tested by him or others, but I didn't see any posts with this info so I decided to ask the OP himself. I think it is OT (ON TOPIC) the question I asked. And the minimal part was to cut down on boot time but still have the required WM drivers for this build to work.

BTW, I am not testing just this build and device, I have 4 devices I test and a few other builds, I have like 4 different SDCards I switch back and forth, I think one of these cards doesn't work, I've had this loop happen to me before, I swear....

No worries, sorry for bustin your chops.

These builds are trickier tho - what size did you make the FAT32 & ext2 partitions? Have you tried the classic delete of your data.img?

I did the same size as the video... 3300mb for FAT32 and the remaining 478ish MB for the ext2 (using a 4gb SDCart but I think this SDCard is not compatible, I have like 5 different SDCards, going nuts with them! LOL)

I started with fresh, no data.img and used the startup.txt for my device. I am playing with the USB startup.txt of the TP2 right now though, will come back to this after I get the headphones working on the TP2 which I use as MP3 player :)

If I remember correctly, you are supposed to extract the contents to the fat32 partition. I used xdandroid build for a week or so and noticed there are other builds out there that I could also tinker with that were harder to install, like this one for example. Getting this build to run was surely a little more difficult with the extra partitions and stuff. If you like, Neopeek is working on new builds for testing as we speak. Here is the link if you want to give it a go:

Re: [Android Froyo][CyanogenMod6-Ports by Neopeek]

Hmmm, ok, I'll jump on the newer builds...but I thought the instructions of SuperF said to create the ext2 partition, give it ext2 volume name and to extract the files to it... then to download the Haret-Packet and that went on the FAT32 partition... But yeah, I'll check out the newer builds...

Thanks.

Re: [Android Froyo][CyanogenMod6-Ports by Neopeek]

What os are you using? I use windows 7 and I know that the ext2 partition does not even show when my phone is plugged in my computer.
I made the exact same assumption but I realized that I could not extract nothing to the ext2 partition through windows because it is not even available. This is what led me to extract to the fat32 and run the npkinstall from there.

Hope this helps. I actually plan to install the new build tonight. I have to start from scratch and create my partitions again so i'll let you know how it goes.

Re: [Android Froyo][CyanogenMod6-Ports by Neopeek]

I'm running Windows 7. I am using Paragon Partition Manager 10 Personal Edition to create the partition and access it with ext2fsd. Search for Paragon, the one I used was purchased by a company I used to work for and I got a copy from them... the ext2fsd website is

Code:

http://www.ext2fsd.com/

Re: [Android Froyo][CyanogenMod6-Ports by Neopeek]

Ok so I just installed android and you must extract the files to the fat32 partition. I also read a few posts above and you say that you have a few sd cards to use? I am currently using a sandisk 1gb microsd card and it has been working for me just fine.

I wish I know about creating an ext2 in windows before I installed ubuntu and using gparted. that would have saved me so much time. I spent a good few hours dowloading ubuntu, figuring out how to use gparted, and booting back and forth from ubuntu and windows like a zillion times.

m4f1050 09-21-2010 10:35 PM

Re: [Android Froyo][CyanogenMod6-Ports by Neopeek]

I corrected the previous post. I forgot I switched fs-driver with ext2fsd, fs-driver didn't work for me. And you have to run the utility and assign a drive letter to the ext2 partition (it will say "Linux") on the bottom window.

arrrghhh 09-21-2010 10:39 PM

Re: [Android Froyo][CyanogenMod6-Ports by Neopeek]

LOL maybe you'll find you like Ubuntu... give it a fair shot.

And are you writing to your ext2 partition from Windows? That seems like a baaaaaaad idea....

Neopeek's ROMs are great. You should check out his website and see the variety. The only thing that doesn't work on my Sprint TP is bluetooth to my Jawbone. That's the issue I run into with XANDROID too. If anyone can get a bluetooth headset working, let me know. I'll switch headsets so I can start using this ROM full-time.

Which step are you having problems?
* Renaming the correct startup.txt in npkinstall and running the install.exe.
or
* Copying the correct startup.txt from startups to your SD Card root and running haret.exe from the SD Card root.

Install.exe copies the ROM files from androidinstall.tar.gz to the ext2 partition. When it was running, I thought it said it was doing a format. So there's no worry about a data.img file deletion?

I'm going to try another SDCard, I think it's an SDCard related issue. It seems to read the startup.txt but hey, that could be wrong too, but I vaguelly remember a "Waiting for SDCard" error message and the way I solved it was switching the SDCard.. I've been testing lots of stuff with my phones lately, will jump into this soon. I wish there was a phone creeper for android! (it's what im testing on the Imagio since there is no Android for it! LOL)

So i'm guessing you haven't got Android running yet?

Where you able to create the fat32 and ext2 partitions. If not try using Gparted, it is a little more work to install it but it is fairly easy to use. Create the fat32 partition first, then the ext2 partition.
Also keep the ext2 partition smaller than 512 mb if you are going to use a large sd card.

After creating the partitions, extract the files directly to the root of the fat32 partition on your sd card. (You want to see a list of 10 files on the root of the sd card. Not one folder holding all of the files.)

You would then go into the npkinstall folder rename your device to startup, not startup.txt. If you rename it startup.txt the installer will read the file as startup.txt.txt and it will not install correctly.

Immediately after you change whichever device name you are using to startup, go to app named install (which is located in the same npkinstall folder.) And click on it to run. after you will see your screen loading Android into the ext2 partition that you created.

After installing the files, the phone will shut off and reboot back into Windows.

After Windows boots up again, go back to your sd card. In there you will find a folder named Startups. Within the Startups folder you will find various devices. locate your device, click on the folder and in the folder you will find a startup file. Copy this file and paste it directly on the root of your sd card. After that go to the app named Haret, which is located on the root of your sd card, click on this and Adroid should now boot up. It does take a few minutes, so be patient.

Let me know how it goes. By the way, which device are you trying to install this on?

Ok, im going to try a 2gb card I have, not sure if it works, it was not in my stack of "working" sdcards, but I inserted it, I partitioned it 1.5gb FAT32 and 408mb EXT2 so let's see what happens... LOL

EDIT: LOL I see what happened, I was installing Warm Donut 1.6!!! That's why I was creating the ext2 and mounting it in windows to extract the files to it! Duh!! I opened SuperF and saw the haret files & everything else...

I don't have access on NeoPeek's forum, when I was registering it didn't allow my @hotmail account... :(

Can you find me the link to the latest build? Thanks!

I don't think you need to be a registered user on the sight in order to download builds. anyway here are some links from Neopeek's sight.

[New Test-Release][CyanogenMod6] | Neopeek - Network

[ROM][FroyoRedux-Port][CM6] | Neopeek - Network

just click on any of the mirror links in the first post and you should be able to download these builds.

Keep in mind that these builds are not final and are still under testing. They seem pretty stable based on the users posts.

Re: [Android Froyo][CyanogenMod6-Ports by Neopeek]

Well, I got SuperF to boot off of my Touch Pro (CDMA Sprint) but it got so darn hot I got scared and powered it down.

I tried it on my Touch Pro2 (CDMA Sprint) and it locks up on boot. Very nasty lockups.

Will give these new builds a try. I kinda like the idea of having a partition. Wonder if everything can be partitioned ext2 except for a small FAT32 for HARET to boot off of...

EDIT: Got em, thanks!

Are you creating the 64mb linuxswap? I didn't on SuperF is it required on these 2 builds?

yay 09-22-2010 07:32 PM

Re: [Android Froyo][CyanogenMod6-Ports by Neopeek]

Is your Touch Pro 2 overclocked at all? I had my TP1 overclocked (in Windows) and the second I booted Haret, it would freeze up automatically. So for now, I removed the overclock so I could mess around with the Android partition.

As far as the Linux swap partition, I didn't create it. I don't know exactly what it is for, so I didn't bother with it. I just tried to keep the install as simple as possible. I don't believe it is required either, so I just left it out.

Also, if it seems slow, just reboot it a couple of times. It will get faster after 2-3 boots.

Oh yeah forgot to mention about the partition sizes. If I remember correctly, I recall reading that if the ext2 partition was bigger than 512 if wouldn't boot up.

m4f1050 09-22-2010 08:22 PM

Re: [Android Froyo][CyanogenMod6-Ports by Neopeek]

No, Touch Pro2 is not overclocked, and startup.txt doesn't have overclock instructions either....Normal 528mhz and yes, I created a 409mb ext2 partition. 1.5gb fat32...

It should work fine with the Diamond. The only difference is that you would be using internal storage rather than an sd card to boot. Try going to Neopeek's website, the links are a few posts above. There a people there that have had success using the Diamond.

There people reporting that mic and speaker are not working but one poster on Neopeek's site got it working by changing the kernels.

I am testing FroyoRedux and...

Wifi is extremely slow, don't know why...slower than 3G! 170k/sec on dslreports
I can't find the camera icon, do I need to download one off of Market?
3D works! :)
ShootMe and Quadrant (both don't work on xdandroid builds) work
Pandora (don't work on this or any xdandroid build I have tried)
Same LauncherPro Plus bug where I loose icons to a box with android guy
Had to switch to 240 resolution, on 210 fancy widget looked weird... Only down side is phone, top row is a bit chopped off, but no biggie...

Still testing... Can you tell me if the Cyanogenmod6 has these bugs? If not I would like to switch to that one and test it as well...

EDIT: I just turned Airplane mode on, turned Wifi on and it's working fast. Going to try to turn Airplane off and then wifi on to see if it has anything to do with it...

I know I'm late to the party but I figured I'd see if I can breathe some new life into my TP - one of the big problems I am having is the battery display refuses to be accurate, even if I know it has a charge it tells me it is under 15 percent charged. Any suggestons?
