Decided to test CM6 and same Wifi results... Is everybody having the same issues? Im on a Sprint Touch Pro.

EDIT: I tested it in WM and it works fine, and it worked on XDAndroid before as well...thinking it's the Wifi on these builds a bit weird? Also, the MAC address is set to something else...not the usual 00:11:22:33:44:55 or it's own MAC...

The latest test release of CyanogenMod6 (25-09-2010): [New Test-Release][CyanogenMod6] | Neopeek - Network

I loaded it, but it didn't fix my Jawbone bluetooth pairing issue so I went back to WM.

happens to me too, takes a while for the data connection to turn on, sometimes it never does. just reboot and try again.

Don't know why but my phone ran super hot with SuperF, and with CyanogenMod6 runs a little bit hot, the FroyoRedux ran cooler...reverting back to FroyoRedux... Still I need Wifi working so I will have it on a separate SD card...

These ROMs take some time to get setup correctly. I usually let my device sit for at least 5 minutes during first boot up.

If that doesn't resolve the problem, you need to create an APN mobile network. This works for me and I'm on Sprint.

Settings-> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names
At this point there are no APN names.
Click on the HOME key then 'New APN'. Use APN for the name and #777 for the APN.

Go back 1 screen (<- key) and select the newly created APN. Continue to back all the way out of the settings menu.

I've never had problems with WiFi, but I don't try it right away.

Good Luck

If you can't connect to internet, you can also try this.

This is quoted from makkonen from this thread
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-touch-...rizon-gps.html

Sometimes this is caused by incorrect or missing APN settings. When Android boots up, go to Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names. You should see an entry with Name: Android (or CDMA Generic), and APN: internet. If this entry is not active, activate it. If you see nothing, hit menu (the button with the house), create a new APN, and put in the settings Name: Android and APN: internet. Everything else can be left blank/default.

I tried it and these instructions work as well.

Alright..

I made the partitions, extracted the files, renamed the appropriate files and copied the correct startup.txt file to the root directory of my SD card..

The issue I'm having is when I run haret.exe and boot into Android, I'm hung-up at the screen that has the two soft-keys - emergency dial and select language. Not sure what I need to do to click the little green Android guy - whenever I touch the screen it automatically selects the 'select language' soft-key @ bottom right.

Any ideas?

Re: [Android Froyo][CyanogenMod6-Ports by Neopeek]

OK.. I fixed the above issue.

Now I have a new one. After getting to the Android settings screen I get this error notice:

Quote:

Sorry! The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
So I click 'Force close' and it pops up again, and again...and again.

Ideas?

Sounds like a buggy version. Here's the latest build: NEW RELEASE! UPDATE 03-10-2010 and the forum.

UPDATE: I finally have a (somewhat) stable Froyo 2.2 running on my phone.

My only issue at the moment is not being able to use a Data Connection. When I looked up my phone specs in Settings->About phone->Status I see the following:

Quote:

Network: Sprint
Mobile network type: UTMS
Shouldn't that read 'CDMA'? And how do I get that to change?

UPDATE: After a soft-reset of the device and reload of Froyo, 3G Data appears to be working. UTMS is still listed as the Mobile Network Type under phone specs, too. Not sure why a soft-reset would be necessary to make that functional...? Still experimenting with Android, but so far I'm loving how smooth and quick this Froyo build is.

Good to hear you got data working after a soft-reset. I had to use the verizon-esque method for getting data to work after 6 softresets/reboots.
As far as what it says as far as the UTMS or anything else, I will say that mine has even said GPRS and EDGE before. Don't know if its because the kernal using a universal cell identifier, but after putting the phone into airplane mode, then taking it out , everything seemed to go back to 'normal'.

I will make mention of one more thing. Having DATA on has significantly increased the heat output of my phone. Before I fixed the APN issue my phone ran nice and cool even when charging. Now it's one hot tamale. Will report later on how fast the battery dies as I will have it off charger for about 4 hours.

Re: [Android Froyo][CyanogenMod6-Ports by Neopeek]

Well EPIC FAIL on my attempts to install any of the Android releases onto my TP.

I have done all the steps for the startups (both in NK and Haret) and I even created the EXT2 and SWP partitions but each time I try to install I get the Booting Linux screen and then the Phone Locks up.

Not using overclock or anything like that.

I will keep trying and see what I come up with but does anyone have any short list of common mistakes that can lead to the phone booting linux and then locking up? I know the phone is supposed to reset and it should take quite a while to install the files (I have given 20 minutes on many attempts) but the phone just locks up.

Specs:
VZW TP
8GB SanDisk TransFlash
512 MB EXT2 Partition (set as Primary)
64 MB SWP Partition
Remainder is Fat32 and is the first Partition created on the card.

I will play a little more since this does not seem to affect the Phone from booting into Windows but any help or hints on something I may have missed would be helpful.

NOTE: it is not just this release it happens on every release I have tried so other users should not think this is a problem with the package that is released, It is definitly User Error on my part, just can't figure out what I'm missing.

Found out the problem was using Raph800 and I have a 500! Finally got it to boot, will report on how well it works later!
