Accessing, a couple other quick issues I have found with the last test is that during normal operation the tabs for Internet, people, messages, settings and the calendar will restart Sense unexpectedly. Usually it is just during normal use, when I click around. As I mentioned before, Sense 2.5 runs very fast on 6.1, there are just a few niggling issues with the operation. Is this enough feedback for you to work on it or should I look into more specifics?

Thanks for all your work!

Thanks, I am sure we'll discover more as we go on. I'll work on these and hopefully have a tasty dish next week or by the end of the month.

Im on sprint, and althought this is for verizon, im curious to know, what sense 2.5 on 6.1wm looks like... I bet the memory footprint is also much smaller; any chance of a generic version thatll work with a carrier cab? Any screen shots?

No need to try yet. It is not for everyday use yet. I've made some progress but a lot of things to iron out.

Re: The Verizon Rom Experiment - 6.1 with sense2.5

So far, it seems to work pretty nice! It's fast as hell, and not at all a memory hog. I run at a steady 66%. The only big issues I've run into so far are all tied to messaging and the networking tab in contacts. As someone else said, the messaging tab doesn't do anything except display received messages. In fact, you can't send at all through the sense tab or the contacts tab. The whole Sense restarts as soon as you touch the networking tab in contacts. It's still really nice so far. If you don't text, it's amazing.

I removed the link as I am planning to play with it some more. It wasn't ready for primetime yet anyway. Hopefully this weekend.

Thanks for all your work Accessing, I know it's a big job! The TP Verizon community appreciates it. Let me know if you need to do anymore testing.

Re: The Verizon Rom Experiment - 6.1 with sense2.5

Here's a little update: I have made little progress partly because I didn't spend the little time I had on it. Fixed audio manager though and know what I need to do fo the internet tab. The only thing that's been kicking my butt is the album tab. There's errors with the default one and when updated, opening a pic doesn't work. As a result, no luck with choosing a pic for wallpaper. I have scroll and contact picker as prime suspect. I hope to iron this out this weekend.

Re: The Verizon Rom Experiment - 6.1 with sense2.5

Accessing, thanks for the update, we appreciate the hard work! I can't wait until the project is finished but understand it's gotta be right. Take your time and if there is testing needed I am available.

If anyone wants to play around with a Sense 2.5 build on a Verizon phone, Twisted Dan's Goodsense LT 1 works well. It's a sharp ROM with very few bugs. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=107393

It's not a light build on a Verizon phone, like 6.1 would be but I have run it for a month and with a little tweaking will consistently stay around 80%, it's not great but does the trick and gives you a feel for 2.5.

Hey accessing any luck with the verizon rom?

I really appreciate your attempt and work in this rom, I really hope you'd be able to iron everything out when you can.

Thanks.

Re: The Verizon Rom Experiment - 6.1 with sense2.5

There is a stripped 6.5 ROM; http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...ighlight=23563 ; that boots, but it really is stripped. When you look at the size of the .NBH file in the archive, it is even smaller than the Verizon update ROM's .nbh. Just need to find out if the TouchFlo cab; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542113 works well on this release. If so, there may be another viable 6.5 candidate for us Verizon TP users.

guys... my computer has crashed. I had a backup of this kitchen but not one for Twisted Access. I will release it so if anyone could make the necessary improvements. The internet tab, and album are the two problem child. I got audiomanager to work using 1.6 (not sure if it's fixed in this kitchen.)

just put it into bootloader mode(phone off, hold vol down then hold power button until tri color screen come up), then connect it to your computer and flash a different rom.

Re: The Verizon Rom Experiment - 6.1 with sense2.5

I too have been poking at ROMs, and here's something interesting.

Caulkin's will boot a Verizon phone just fine, but any ROM using Psyki's Kitchen epic fails.

I once tried to make a Superleggera version of 6.5, stripped to the bones. It was actually quite impressive, with 46-60% memory usage at idle with the Titanium today screen. This is almost on par with the Just Works ROM by popps...

Now, I wouldn't mind running WM 6.1, but there are two nagging issues that keep pulling me back to the world of 6.5...

1: Landscape Mode Graphics Acceleration - This is Nonexixstant in 6.1. Does anyone know if it is possible to get it work?

How to tell: Open Opera 10, go to a webpage, scroll in Portrait to get a feel for the super speed of scrolling, then rotate the screen to Landscape (either by hotkey or slide open) and try scrolling. Notice major difference in drawing speed.

This also affects the Youtube player often bundled with many ROMs. While it will play perfectly fine in 6.5 (which has not this problem), it sputters and jutters and frame kills on 6.1.

2: Bringing up the Virtual Keyboard is troublesome at best. It seems to refuse to open the first time, preferring to repeat an action you just did, such as type a letter, press a button, or touch a part of the screen.

If any of you know the way to fix these, if fixable, it would be great help to use Superleggera ROM makers.

Get a GOOD antivirus and turn UAC off. I don't even use it. Unless you have no idea about computers (which I'm sure you do), leave it on.

This is reminding me of when I was trying to change font on Goodsense and it was giving me a hard time getting it done. UAC is off and the computer is still demanding that I need administrative rights to run it. I adjust the security settings within the properties section and allow myself full control and still no luck. Crap! I even unlock the administrator user and still no dice.

As for the Landscape Lag issue, I have heard of importing the Graphics Drivers from the Rhodium (which is lag free in landscape mode on 6.1), and I wonder if anyone has actually tried it in WM 6.1...
