swinnrom 100821 sanity check requested.

Despite my earlier triumph, wireless stopped working completely. I re-flashed / update to 1008211 thinking maybe I changed a reg entry I shouldn't have. . .

No joy.

Could someone who's wireless does work verify his settings and or post any modifications he had to do from the installation defaults to get it working?

Changes I made:
I said my network adapter connects to "The Internet"
I entered the address of the DNS forwarder in my router as the Primary DNS.
And 8.8.8.8 as the secondary

Is the wireless even connecting to your router?

Oh. Yes. Indeed it is connecting and associating. This was working fine on the previous ROM (as previously reported). If I think about it it was working until I installed your data disconnect cab? That doesn't make sense. Does it?

Anyway, I reflashed.

Had a buddy come by late night and try his phone's wireless connection. Didn't quite work so well. When it did connect to web pages, it was slow then stopped working completely According to his device (HTC G2) signal good but a tracert died at the gateway.

What bugs me is every computer in the house that use wireless (3-- two XP pro and one Win 7 64) connect and browse no problem, so likewise I assume it's a problem with the phone.

In summary

Things I've tried
  • Reflash router
  • Reflash phone
  • HTC G2

Things to do
  • ping my firewall dstro's mailing list (monowall)
  • take my phone to other APs.
  • is there a way under windows phone / mobile 6.5.5 to constrain TX/RX rates of the wireless adapter?

With WP7 basically out and such, I feel I'm fighting a loosing battle.

Normally once you flash the ROM, you do not need to do anything to the wireless (other than setting the ssid and key). If you don't specify DNS servers then it gets the DNS information from DHCP. Also the data disconnect cab just sets a couple entries in the registry. Since you reflashed, the registry was wiped out and is back at the default.

I would try connecting to another network to see if that works. It might just be that the wireless chip on the phone is dying.

Perhaps related, you may want to check out my blog post about:

Could be an issue you are having, or one of others I list there.
