For your last 3 roms including this one, I've typically gotten a solid day of battery, using all the bells and whistles... in fact, right now, i'm tethering using wmodem, and i'm at around 50 percent since about 5 this morning. I did try something with my battery that might be giving me better life though. I fully charged the phone, put it in one of those vacuum containers, kept it in the freezer until it died... it was just an experiment when i tried it, but it gave me significantly better life. Anyway, I think i might try out using dynamic tomorrow and see what happens...

Hey, I tried your Boost CDMA ROM off of HoFo. It was good, but killed my battery life. Luckily, I ran into your ROMs over here. I'm going to give this one a shot!

I have found two problems so far:
The camera is buggy. I took a picture and once the photo is taken, TouchFlo appears on top of the camera interface. If you press the screen in the areas where TouchFlo and the camera are overlapping (where you can still see the camera), it'll go back to the camera with a small amount of the TouchFlo in the background.

Also, the backlight of the buttons (Home, arrow key, Call, Hangup... hardware buttons) never turns off.

Also, one question: Where can I find the Arcsoft MMS settings in the phone? (newb fail).

??? Sounds like a bad flash... I just took 10 photos and 2 vids in an attempt to reproduce issue.. perfect over here. Same with the hardware buttons, So I suggest a flashdance or flash from bootloader.

Arcsoft settings from manila ... all messages > menu > MMS Options ... You have to scroll down

Oddly enough, those two aforementioned issues resolved themselves. Perhaps it had something to do with hotfixes and restarting? Either way, it's all good now. Thanks for the MMS settings btw. This is a truly impressive ROM!

Also, battery life over the past few hours with heavy use is EXCELLENT!

One final thing I noticed. The Gmail default settings are incorrect. It couldn't connect through IMAP and when I went into the server settings, the servers had imap.gmail.com:996 or some number. Once I removed the colon and numbers, it connected properly. The same is needed with the SMTP servers.

I don't know if you want to change this in the ROM or if you can change it, but I thought it would be helpful nonetheless.

The Gmail thing I have noticed ... has to do with the HTC connection wizard. I may be able to fix. On a sidenote the :996 is technically correct. I think that when it sets up gmail and you tell it to use a secure connection it winds up doubling the port # sending imap.gmail.com:996:996. The :996 specifies port# You are currently at ppcgeeks.com:80 Anyway, for ease of use its now on the list of things to play with

awesome, man loving it, I had the same issue with the vibrating for all buttons and keyboard but after your hotfix cab problem solved...my battery life has been fair...after 8 hours my battery went to about 60 from 100

Droobie, I have experienced that on Sense 2.5 if you enable auto-update on the weather tab you will experience random lock-ups and resets. Do a hard reset, and setup your phone as normal but DO NOT enable auto update on the weather tab. I hope you'll find, as I have, that the phone will be much more reliable.

Greetings, Just installed your Rebirth rom and so far it looks pretty good, one thing I can not clear is the blinking Wi-Fi icon on the top bar. This is for an Alltel phone, and normally the only thing blinking up there is a roaming indicator, so I think the rom is somehow confused and is using the Wi-Fi icon as a roaming indicator. Also, there is a white box with a blue title bar (kinda like a windows window) on the bar, it does not seem to do anything but looks very out of place. Lastly, I am guessing the Rom does not have the Rev.A icon as it just seems to stick to the EVDO icon even when I can see it is getting Rev.A speeds in known Rev.A areas. Will update as I test more, just wanted to get that out there for you. Keep up the good work. Mia

thanks I notice drobies post references the original version of the rom ... that came from the old kitchen... and even though I never experienced those issues... The old rom...Im just not a fan of. Has nothing to do with not liking my old work. More like "The only way to get it right is to get it WRONG". The title over the posts changes with each update of the title so you know which version was being discussed at the time. I dont have... or ever recall having any issues with auto location causing freezing. I would ask that you try it out with my rom and report the results.

I've been checking out Sense 2.1 world ... Its getting Nice over there. Not really enthusiastic about building ANOTHER kitchen.... But I may not be able to resist =D

@mia... Xtask instructions... Second Post. Or the refernce to that icon you'll hate a few posts ago. BOTH your icon issues are probably the tsk grs and the wifi on makes me think youe USING internetsharing. To get rid of the "white" icon tap on it ... hold a sec then slide down to the word "exception" You can do this on any screen... but if you do on the home screen wait for the animation to stop so you dont lose the hotspots.

Really, nothing to report besides to inform your old kitchen needed to crash into forcing you to do a new kitchen. Restarting all over has come, as you well said "Rebirth", with an impecable Rom. As for now I haven't found anything wrong with your new creation. One thing, what is VNC:scratch::scratch::scratch: and how do you use it:scratch::scratch::scratch:.

I like what you did with the taskbar icons and that you are the only one that I know that has come about on doing so. As I said b4, I like using that pointer on the main screen. I also like very much what you did not also with the media player screen rotation, you al so did with the photo album and I like itttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I changed the screen and wallpaper with the ones that you already had. Youtube working, Email working, Facedbook 2.

Ok, the white box issue is resolved, and I now understand more of what it is. In regards to the blinking Wi-Fi icon, I double checked all wifi settings, sharing, com managers, etc, none of them are on, now what is intresting, if I actually turn on Wi-Fi or Sharing, I can get up to 3 Wi-Fi icons on the bar, 2 solid, and the one blinking. The blinking one really acts like my roaming icon used to on different firmwares, and there is no roaming indicator now. For what it is worth, that blinking wifi, was present immediately after the rom flash as well, so no real chance to even turn things on or off yet. Mia

Now @mia ... Thanks for the feedback, Now you understand a bit how things work LOL. And an educated user is a happy user I say. The No roaming icon issue MAY be my fault. Im Boost CDMA so I CANT ROAM so i didnt cook in the RMGR sys package (Roaming Manager). I will include in next update... please report back if the change works. Cooking for the masses now LOL. I would have bet $$ that I saw 3.. well 2 wifi icons in the taskbar and the wifisharing icon in xtask, (to TOTAL 3) when i used wifi-netsharing for testing. But now i cant reproduce the issue, I only see 2. 1 tskbar and 1 tskmgr ??? Makes me think bad flash ... especially with you reporting wifi being ON after first flash???

Back @ the world ... My thoughts of the New sense 2.1, and a HoFo ROM user sounding off!!! Has lead me to want to "revisit" =D So the "First" sense 2.1 rom will actually be a Ver 2.0 . Said EARLY to eliminate ANY confusion. Got Some updates in store... feels GOOD to be running the "Public" version of the ROM. Sorry No... Not really a fan of the MaxManila Mods. They LOOK Good... I just dont find them "functional". Again No disrespect to his works. In other news.. I'm cooking the first sense 2.1 now =| .. we'll see how it goes. sense 2.1 is like back 2 basics. The way the New kitchen is set up.. it shouldnt be too hard to merge and KEEP seperate. @Mia... how did you resolve the white box issue? It is there for me... not causing any issues but it does look funny.

@anyone... what's the difference between Sense 2.5 (is that what this ROM has?) and Sense 2.1? Why would you cook a ROM with the old Sense?

Sense 2.1 is NOT the old "Sense" ... It is the "New" extension of the "old" touch flo manila. There are benifits and disadvantages to both. 2.5 has the weather animations and better facekook integration. 2.1 has landscape and much better "mod" support. At the end of the day ... Sense 2.1 is lighter on ram.

The white box issue .... I dont know man...Losing different ways to sat the same thing. Draw a line from the white box to exception... YOU WILL SEE THE LINE.... welcome to xhook... Re-read post 2

The pink menu's lol... what??? Real men cant rock pink??? =P I am sure and 6.5.x compatible theme will take care of the issue. The next 2.5 series will have a new theme, that may be a bit off in the future though. Building a sense 2.1 now for sure. I still dont LIKE it... but the 128 mb free off reboot + better BASE manila mods means i got to give it a spin. Its Soooo much easier than 2.5

To clarify, Wifi was not on after the flash, it was in fact off, everywhere, no sharing, no wifi, no special settings, that is what I was attempting to convey. The fact that it seemed wierd that the indicator would be on after a clean install (Done via boot loader/Memory Card on an FCed image file - files matched) when nothing should have been enabled by default. After your mention of the Roaming package, I would bet that is where our issue is at. It certainly makes sense. Also, is there a package that would accommodate the Rev.A icon? It is by no means required, but would be nice.

Another comment, I noticed once I enabled my bluetooth headset the bluetooth icon that sits on the bar at the top sits half over the another icon. Again, no functionality issues, just an annoyance.

Lastly, I have noticed that after the end of a call, or a system sound when I have my bluetooth headset on and enabled, the phone will continue to transmit dead air noise to the headset as a light hiss for up to 30 seconds before it discontinues. Again, just an annoyance.

I really appreciate all the hard work you have put into this rom, I hope this info helps you out. If there is more that I can do, please let me know.

p.s. I just noticed as I slid the keyboard out, when in landscape mode, the bluetooth icon is displayed twice. There is only one shown for about 3 seconds, then a second one appears in that mode, it returns to the state described above once the keyboard is slid in again.

If the second bletooth icon is blue... its just xhook repositioning. be careful in landscape.... that may freeze phone!!! Lastly, if you find any 6.5.x taskbar icon sets that look ok and have the rev-a icon included (or find) send me a link and I'll give them a look see

chill folks... I read the whole thread, I just didn't catch the "exceptions" part. Also, the screenshots don't have the generic white box icon that I had, but whatever it is, it's now in the exceptions area.

Thanks for the clarification on the whole 2.1/2.5 thing. That all makes sense now.

Real men can definitely rock pink, but I thought a black or green theme would go quite well with that gorgeous background that you have on the main menu.

Noticed a couple small issues...

No auto-complete of contacts' names in creating a new text message. This was included in the stock ROM... you'd start typing someone's name and it would suggest who. Might have something to do with using swype instead of stock keyboard?

Swype doesn't understand ebonics. I can't say fo sho without it saying do so. Meh.

Final small issue, doesn't automatically have cursor active in text fields. i.e. when I get a text, to type back, I have to tap the text field first to type... not a big deal at all, just different from old stock rom.

Despite my new found love for swype, I'm going to try another software keyboard to see if it helps these issues.

Swype ebonics.... If you type it once on the sype keyboard it tries to remember the word. Sywpe ebonics isnt much of a prob for me.... and retested w/ fo sho to make sure ;D (fingerkeyboard is also it the ROM... couldn't live without it until swype)

After a full days headset use i finally manages to see a taskbar icon issue. It is the FIRST time i have ever seen 6 taskbar icons active. One was blank, which may have something to do with the drop down window bluetooth icon. I'll be back in the kitchen in a day or so... until then

NxP, I have another observation for you. If I have a bluetooth headset paired to the phone, and a call come in, the phone itself will not ring, it will only play the ring sound in the bluetooth headset itself. As such, if I put the headset down, I never know the phone rings. I am currently turning the headset off when not using it to get the phone to ring now, but might want to check into that. Mia

NxP, One more observation, this is more than likely a side effect of something else, but perhaps it can lead you down the right road.

1. Reset phone to have clean slate to start
2. Call Phone - Phone rings with normal ring (or what ever is selected)
3. Enable Bluetooth and attach headset. - Phone now rings only in headset and not on phone. However it is also nice in the headset as it will speak whom is calling by name or number.
4. Disable Headset - Phone will now ring again, but it will ring as it did in the bluetooth headset by speaking the name/number through the phone speaker.

Not really a big problem, but seems like it was not intended to work that way. Hope that helps.

@miakayuukki ... Have you played with the voice command options in settings??? I've got a feeling you havent been there.... your ring bt issue may be solved there. I've implemented a BUNCH of fixes im the new rom. BT icon.. EPST.. I even know whats causing the button to be off center/ overlapped in the dialer and am fixing that. Currently playing with the taskbar positioning... trying to get it to start where the clock would be. Updated xtask... and an tinkering with a new default strategy for that as well... new version allows icons to populate from left to right... my dream come true LOL. The rest is updates and additions.. there will be a weather editior added so you can pick your own cities. Idk what else is needed.... New Wallpapers... as said before VERY open 2 suggestions.

Thanks Man... i sooo have not had the chance to finish the update. Ive been really busy... and just havent had the chance to get in the kitchen. I've wanted too believe me. It'll be a few more days, but i'll get the fixes out. Thanks for the support... makes this worthwile.

P.S. for those of you trying to use Internet Connection Sharing ON the wire... You may have to disconnect from data and let the internet sharing app establish the connection. Its MUCH faster than doing wifi sharing in my experience. And you can charge the phone as well.

This rom is definately stable and it's been working great for me since its release.
