Decided to try a totally different build and see what my phone does. Downloaded RootRom21_02062010_23518, did the full flash dance again, and now it's going through Customization. We'll see what a totally different build does.

Sent you a little something for your troubles root. Go get a bottle, I don't think beer would cover it.
LOL @ bottle
Thank you friend.
Let me know how RootRom works for you.

Will be updating 2.1s soon.

Not sure why GoldRoot is giving you so many problems.
Have seen others with it posted as being used in their sigs.
Some roms just do not like some devices I think. LOL

Though the interface will take some getting used to, it all worked (sorta, read below) out of the box.

Everything loaded great. Got my usual roaming indicator that I always get after a flash.
Dial *228 to update my roaming, and had a hell up a time trying to figure out how to pull up the keyboard in-call to hit 2. Got it figured out ok.

Set Alltel as my default MMS server.
Sent a test text to myself. Came back perfect.
Sent a test pic to myself. Sent perfect. Came back with the problem I and others have had (though on other roms I think). It comes back SUPER shrunk. Like send 350k, get back 4-5k. No matter what size you send, it comes back around 5k. I'll try the usual fix, as in remove picturemail and arcsoft, and install my alltel arcsoft cab. Usually fixes it.

No other issues yet. Give me a day and I'll be itching to go back to 2.5 though. It may be a hair slower, but the finger friendly-ness of it always seems to win me over.

Oh, and I still need to install Swype. That's next!

And I really miss my quicklinks. Any way to get them back on 2.1?

2.1 has a program tab.
There is a WIP to get home tab quicklinks on 2.1 also.
Have not seen it as Rota has not released it.

Found the tab. A little different to get to, but gets the job done. Having minor issues with sound again, but I think I may have narrowed down the SMS/MMS sound issues to my arcsoft cab. I need it for proper working MMS, so I found a different one and I'll try that.

If that doesn't work I'll try some other work arounds too. I don't give up easy.

love your 21889 2.1 rom's! Is there anyway to have the dual clock cooked into the 2.1 rom's? There was a cab floating around with the dual clock but it seems to slow everything down after I install it.

Re: [ROM] ROOTROM - SMS/MMS - Sashimi Compliant - ALL Carriers inc USCC - Feb 08 2010

Ok, was using the same cab for MMS that I used in all the other roms without any problems. It was Arcsoft Alltel MMS 5.0.69.44. Switched to ArcSoft 5.0.71.33 Alltel (with was a much bigger pita to set up) and the sound issues have gone away, at least for now.

Since I seem to be such a glutton for punishment, I downloaded MaxRootRomCombo02082010_23518 and am going to dance to that, I hope. I like those builds, and 2.5, so I'll give it a shot. If it all works out it should show that for some reason there's an incompatibility between your roms and that first arcsoft alltel cab.

I think it's time I try ROOTROM! From the latest screen shots, I don't even see the exact differences from SKI-ROM, other than it's updated a lot more frequently and seems to have better landscape support.

Should I do it, buddy?
