In the past RootRoms I've used I thought they had a processor option to be able to adjust the speed of the processor at any given time. This helped me as I could play to my personal tastes. If not true, than I'm thinking of another ROM I've used (I use too many). Trying to just speed up the responsiveness of this ROM, otherwise doing well. Everything seems to be working just fine.

maybe I am reading your post wrong but Root has not updated Sense 2.1 since 02/12/10. Could you possibly be using XXXRootRomLS from 03/26/10? Anytime things start dragging for me, I usually check how much memory I have left, what apps are running in the background and even switching out the animated wallpaper usually helps. Keeping too many emails and sms/mms can severely slow down our phones too. Hope some of these suggestions help.

I cant speak for the 2.1 build for rootrom on 3/26 but the 2.5 rom had the wrong pagepool settings and was extermely slow for me. it could be the same situation for the 2.1 rom.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323269

visit there and download the latest pagepool changer and change it to 0.
can anyone confirm that 2.1 roms should have the 0 pagepool also or is that only a 2.5 thing?

seems like you are likely running 2.5 and not 2.1 from the dates as the above poster noted.

if you do mean the 2.5 rom then it is definitely the pagepool. just run that pagepool changer. set to 0. reflash and you are set.

exactly what i had to do and it is flying now.

Root,
Just wanted to say a quick thank you. I'm running the latest XXXDarkRoot ROM and I never realized how much I missed the notifications. It is a fantastic ROM and I'm looking forward to the updates to the others as I've been a serious Silver fan since it came out.

Again thanks and I appreciate all the hard work. Congrats on the new job as well.

Well, I was going to try what was mentioned, but then I had to restart my phone. Suddenly my htc sense wouldn't load. I got three different errors and my phone wouldn't connect to the towers anymore. So I flashed away to a different ROM and all seems to be just fine so far. I keep coming back to newer builds of RootRom, but I've even had issues here and with Energy where after a few days my phone locks up and I restart it just to find that it is hard resetting itself. Thankfully I hook up with an exchange server so all my contacts/emails/etc are always saved. Just lose TXTs, which don't matter too much to me.

My exchange server allows me to sync texts also... I don't for a few obvious reasons but just fyi.

I've been running the 2.5 3/26 RootRomLS without any issues and it's blazing fast compared with the 6mb pagepool.

So if you like that particular rom i suggest you change the page pool and reflash. It only takes a second to change it... just point to the nbh open it and you will see it says 6. hit the down error until it gets to 0 and change... done. reflash.

Hi Can anyone help me i am currently on SlimRoot the version before the latest update and i was wondering how do you keep the Program memory down? Is there a way? at one point i think i had on 2MB left of memory but no programs was running except opera and sense music player.

Also i took some screen shots of my task manager activity it looks like a lot is running but i am not sure if everything can be close (well i sure they can't) basically which one's can be closed with out any defects.

Thanks!

the screenshots dont show opera running so i cant tell how much its using. the unnecessary items that are running, wont do you any good to shut down as they are very small. things like gwes.exe & manila.exe u need to keep running. i also dont know if audio manager was currently playing any music at that time of the screenshot to see how much memory it consumes while doing that.

sorry i cant answer your question

So is it because of the running programs in task manager is that what eating my program memory?

Also does clean RAM help? I am not sure what it is for but I think I read somewhere that it helps memory I think but does this erase anything I need possibly?

Thanks!

I am guessing it might have something to do with shellres.192.dll?

I'd be happy to try any taskbars you might suggest.

Thanks.

i thought there was always something fishy about that...maybe there's another cab that might have been affecting that button.

the file that tells that button what png to display is called Dusk.tsk and it looks for the same "lock" png as in the classic windows theme...the file does point to the right place.

anyhow, this is no longer an issue on XXXDarkRootLS.
