does this confirm that its not just an evo thing but instead more closely related to the 4G it self?

well its hard to say at this point...as we have yet to get a decent device without 4g...but most likely all their top end devices from now on will have 4g...so you'd never really be able to differentiate.

We will most likely know if they happen to release a medium tier device with 4G

I think this is just a gradual move to a new pricing formula. At some point they will stop having an $10 add-on and will raise their regular rates by the same amount.

If they did that, Sprint would lose a LOT of customers. I'm pretty sure it will never come down to that (but then again this is Sprint we are talking about here). My guess is that if you ever upgrade your phone or change your plan, you'll have no choice but to pay the extra $10.

My guess is it will be a "smartphone fee" similar to how metro has it..where you pay $10 more if its a smartphone..

The reason for this fee is also most likely not due to 4G but sprint wanting to be competitive on smartphone pricing....putting up a phone for 350$ while verizon puts it up for 200$ or less with people complaining probably made them make this move....and the EVO was the perfect time to implement it in their view.

My best guess is that it is indeed a 4G fee. Last time I heard, Sprint had plans to drop the 69.99 plan to 59.99 if it was needed to compete with T-Mobile's pricing. Also, just 10 extra bucks for much faster net speeds isn't really much out of line, especially if you compare it to other carriers plans. At least Sprint hasn't come out with anything about putting a usage cap on it. *cough* IPhone *cough*

Sprint decided to release things like boost mobile and etc instead of fighting a price war...right now they don't care about T-mobile..they are aiming at AT&T and Verizon...proof of that being that T-Mobile isn't even on the comparison chart..and they are getting a Galaxy S as well..the one with no keyboard though.

The 3G/4G is unlimited also. So 10$ for that and people will be leaving? Cmon .

I'm already pissed that I pay $52 for sprint. If I have to pay $10 more a month for a service that I won't use since it won't be in new hampshire for years, I'm going to switch to verizon. I've been on sprint for over 11 years now.
