Way back when, I had a similar situation. As it turns out, I had a setting wrong in the EPST. I might be wrong but I think it the MSID has two characters transposed. I would go into the editor and look for anything obvious. Inj my case, it was simply my phone number with a couple of numbers backwards.

i just installed the fresh evo 4.2 rom and i rebooted the phone. I see the HTC Evo 4g sprint screen with white background but it keeps restarting the phone and it doesn't get past the white screen. I can't even get into recovery mode. I hadn't upgraded my room in a few months since froyo and this is my 1st attempt at gingerbread. i am sure i made some mistake and now i can't undo it. i think i had warm rls3 previously.
any help on this would b greatly appreciated.

Power off, take out battery, put it back. Hold Volume down then push power for 5 seconds. This will get you in bootloader. then select recovery. If you flashed from warm froyo to Fresh gb, you need to do a full wipe (data, dalvik, cache) in recovery as well. Good luck.

ty kindly. that helped me get back into bootloader but do i have to flash a new kernel for this fresh rom ? because i tried wiping cache/data and still getting stuck with the looping restart.

my hboot version is 0.79.0000
how can i update that? everytime i go into bootloader, it runs something cuz i can't use the menu right away i have to wait for it to finish whatever it is doing and it always asks me : Do you want to start update? even though i have said yes already, it still asks me that everytime.

Reboot into recovery and reinstall the ROM. It happened to me to but reinstalling the ROM and wiping (davlik an cache) worked for me.
