Re: [3-24-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [rc5][STABLE]

for some reason the gapps listed in the first post doesnt work for me. i get a wrong digest/verification failed error. i had to use cm7 gapps and it worked fine.

though when i installed rc5 over rc4, my gapps were gone and had to reinstall it. is that supposed to happen. if so that really sucks. i dont wanna keep re-adding my accounts after every upgrade.

with that said, the rom is great and exactly what i want.

As long as you have the google backup checked off you should be fine. You wont have to keep reloading infor but you do have to load gapps after every install of an new AOSP rom. Not that big a deal though

This is how I upgraded,
backup everything in titanium backup
boot in recovery
nandroid
wipe dalvic and cache (couple times each)
flash rcX
don't reboot
flash gapps
reboot
restore with titanium backup
reboot
everything should be there and working.

For apps off the market that you have previously download you dont need Titanium. Also MyBackupRoot is also a very good alternative and its free. After you flash and reboot just wait a few minutes and it will tell you all your apps have been restored. To add apps as you know you can log into the market and those apps will be the ones that show up on your phone

So that's what's going on, now I understand. I've been playing around with MBR as an alternative to Titanium. When I flashed this ROM last night, on the 2nd reboot it started installing all of my apps on it's own. I couldn't figrue out what the hell was going on, lol.

Now I know. Loving the ROM Deck!

What about this google backup thing that is new the gingerbread... The first time I switch over to gingerbread I skip that step but then started playing with it. It seems to work pretty good... I don't have a clue how it works but would like to know more about so I can update it via the web (I am guessing that is were it is stored)...

Has anyone else tried this?

Re: [3-24-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [rc5][STABLE]

MAYBE FIX to high system usage/batterydrain on Gingerbread

Sup, got some tips for you fools..

Turn off backing up to google services...

menu>settings>privacy. see "back up my data" and "automatic restore". Cant find it, to bad.

Here"s another tip. Not to sure about this 1, you have to test out yourself. Disable stock messenger & install 3rd party messenger like, Handcent or Go SMS.

And last 1...For high cell standby....dial *#*#4636#*#*. Hit phone information and change radio to cdma only

What will all this do.. ..
save your battery usage ...duh

Later..

Re: [3-25-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [rc6][REAL STABLE]

DL'd this morning, installed RC6 over RC4 and after re-boot kept looping me back to the recovery screen. Then I formatted all, installed a fresh RC6 and did the same thing. For now I restored back to RC4.......

Edit: DL'd again, installed over RC4 just fine; must have been a bad DL. Thanks!
