There is no such thing as a bad ROM (at least on this list). I encourage you all to try them all!! That is the only way to see which works. I personally went through most of the list to find the one that suited me. I would do a poll but that would only state the on you ended up with. What if you like 2 or 3 of the ROMS?

Used to be a time when just about everyone and literally their mother's wanted the flip clocks, Manila and HTC Sense cabs..

Even those with out HTC Sense download Beautiful Widgets on their Androids to get the "look"..

So, it's a thing of personal preference.

I am definately with you on this one. My thing is that Im going to wait until i get bored with stock then move on, so its almost like getting a new phone lol. Im on phone number 6 in the past 15 months so I definately want to try to savor this one as much as possible. :mrgreen:

can't shake the flash habit from the WinMo days! which was about a week ago...hahaha

already rooted and flashed omj..with the updated radio. I'm looking forward to Froyo...fully functional.

sense on android is nice...better than the WinMo version but it LOOKS like mobile shell almost.

seperate question...is it possible to flash a different rom without losing apps and data. I remembered reading about it a long time back that flashing a rom on android doesn't always delete all apps and files that was there before.

i just flashed Bugless Beast v.03 and im quite impressed so far. the bloatware removal tool caused a FC when opening settings > accounts & sync though.

i reflashed without installing the bloatware removal tool and seems to working fine so far.

From what I've seen, emails and Facebook still update fine. You just lose the ability to see profiles and albums through sense. It's ok, thats what the Facebook app is for right?

Me too!!! I had fresh 2.1.2 in my hero and I don't see a lot difference, I just did the easy root to use the wifi tether. I am waiting froyo. :headbang:

suggest to OP...maybe whittle down the Skunkworks section to the most "stable" froyo ROM. A couple of those are proof of concepts...more take a look...than functionality.

Loving this thread...since it is a one stop shop...

Gonna give EVOlutionV8 a bump for the following reasons:

Froyo!!

Rather stable, google experience (no htc, no sense)

advised that if you have a stable 2.1 setup (nandroid back it up)...flash over to EVOv8...(nandroid this too) Remember the different dates and times. So that way, you can access 2.1 for camera related functions...and go back to Froyo when you want.

It is rather painless...it is described in the 1st post for EVOv8

Can someone tell me what OTA, deodex and odex stand for?

OTA= Over the air
.dex is the file that is used in the .apk (whick are like .exe for PCs). Any program you download with will have an .apk extension.
For files to be editable (if thats a word), program and theme changes and such, the ROM needs to be deodexed. The reason why for example, is because like windows mobile, carrier bloatware cant be deleted. The ROM needs to be deodexed in order for you to be able to delete without dealing with the adb shell. So deodexed means you can edit.

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong......this is my super simple way to understand

yeah if you want to apply themes and stuff its best to stick with deodex roms.

ROFL , I should be embarrassed.

I've been to that thread a million times and never new it was called skunkworks. I even have a nand backup of it so I can switch back and forth. I apologize bro. Thanks for humoring a loony brain like myself.
