Re: Obviously Stable ROM | Updated 12/3 | All Carriers | 21876 | 25MB PP Titanium/SPB

Mr.Obvious, Still loving the ROM. Not sure if you can fix, I haven't taken many steps to remedy it (I did hard reset to be sure). When you reply to a Text message using the 3D interface in SPB, it brings up a blank text (no name in to box). If you click on the message, then it'll bring up the reply window.

One other thing that annoys me in all ROMS, not sure you can fix it. When you reply to a text using the notification, it pops up the keyboard, then selects the message that person sent, which hides the keyboard, then you have to click the text area and the keyboard pulls back up. Seems silly.

Now, in Sense or Manilla 2.5, you can reply right in the interface, so that works for them. But on a Notification, they would run into the same problem.

I'm pretty sure the texting reply thing worked on your other rom with me just installing SPB. Not sure if some reg change or customization you added has broken that component (unlikey, but I'm not a tinkerer).

Only other thing is I really have become annoyed with Ezinput and T9 keyboards, they are slow and laggy and don't give me the vib option I like, so I'm 100% Fingerboard now days, which I don't have a problem installing after and using SIP change to make perfect, just an FYI.

I didn't know if you'd be upgrading to 21882 and if you were incorporating a few changes/updates.

I had that problem with spbms 3.5, but not with 3.5.1. I haven't tried mr o's rom with spb cooked in, I'm using his older one with 3.5.1 cab installed, but I thought that's what mr o was cooking in! You might want to check by going launcher-settings-mobileshell-about . Mine says 3.5.1 build 9687 and reply works fine from the 3d display for both texts and emails.

I also now see there's a 3.5.2 available, but I haven't tried it yet.

Ah yup that would be the problem. I'm using 3.5.0 I just checked. If someone wants to post a link for the EXT I'll put it up today but it will be a couple days before I can get around to trying to hunt one down. As faras the SIP deploying that can be turned off in Advanced Config under Input.

Re: Obviously Stable ROM | Updated 12/3 | All Carriers | 21876 | 25MB PP Titanium/SPB

I downloaded the trial from SPB, it's 3.5.2, installed over the top and now that stupid reply bug is gone. Yay!

Set Fingerboard as main SIP, so all good there.

Replying from Notifcation is my only gripe and I think that's an issue for WinMo itself probably nothing anyone can fix without replacing the whole messaging app somehow.

Anyway, lovin' this ROM. I'm done with using Titanium and Manilla. They are slow and cumbersome. SPB allows so much customization. I can create a start page that allows me to do 95% of what I do within a click or two. I don't have to swipe, click, swipe drag, whoops too far, swipe back, etc.

It's been a good few weeks, thanks Mr. O! (Thanks for the bug confirm/fix Etski!)

Hopefully you will strip out titanium before you post the spbms rom. If you do, I'll load it and test it. I'm actually not using the mobileshell at this point because I'm trying to figure out if that's what's draining my battery. Version 3.5.1 might be worse on the battery than 3.5 was. It fixed bugs, but definitely seems worse on battery (but there are other variables as well, different rom....). I also deleted in startup phcvanga (and mobileshell, maybe something else too, I can't remember, g-alarm, that was it) because I'm trying to increase battery life. I'm using HTCHOME2 (found here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42150 as my home page, it's not pretty or sexy but extremely functional and efficient. Looks like others have prettied it up, but I just use the basic. I don't unfortunately have a quick way to recustomize my favorite contacts, programs and settings with it, that's its one drawback when switching roms!

as I said before, a registry editor would be a nice addition, so would 1% increments on battery status. Do you use Sashimi? Some people load it's stub on the rom so it's ready to go. Sashimi really saves time, I just use it now for owner info, email setup and quick reinstall of my favorite cabs. It could do much more, but I haven't at this point. If I look at xml provisioning of regedits for personal settings, that would be my next step! The only other things I've installed on top are lockdevice v1.6 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542482 and my gps exercise program sportypal http://www.sportypal.com/Downloads/winmo/SportyPal.CAB. If you try them and like them, you might want to add them to your rom as well. They both work very well!

ok, I guess I load spb backup as well, I don't know why except that I own it and I'm super paranoid about backup, but I just recustomize and activesync. I really don't like restoring after different roms, too many unknowns. I would probably only use it if I somehow lost my outlook database or activesync capabilities.

There, now you have my entire configuration except my emails and personal settings.

I'll keep my eye out for your rom & report back after I load it. The only thing that would really help me is the space from not having titanium (or manilla) on the rom. Without that, it's hard for me to justify re-flashing. Since I disabled the rhodium skin, I haven't found a single bug. Just trying to tweak performance and battery at this point.

thanks again for all your work! I like what you've put out there
Mr. O,

I like spb, it's pretty and all, but I'm still not 100% sold. My favorite cleanest interface is still HTCHOME2, no swiping at all, it's easy enough for me (and anyone else) to install from the above referenced cab, as are my other favorite toys (including ms spb 3.5.2 if so desired, http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pock.../download.html ).

That said, I would really love a stripped down version of your rom, without manilla or titanium since I never use them and I gotta think they take a lot of space up (although I could be wrong). I would also love it if you loaded on phmregedit or some other registry editor since I only have an .msi file for it and it doesn't install for me, (I don't know why). I've been using CEregEditor from my PC, but I really liked phmregedit when I've tried it before on other roms, (although I like it well hidden on the rom in tools or something so it doesn't ever accidently get loaded).

Thanx again, loved your rom over the last two weeks, but it's almost time for me to flash again, hopefully to the stripped down obviously stable rom. Probably need to flash to shipped, relock and bring my phone to the sprint store first, I've got a small crack in the plastic inside, where the stylus is held and now it's spread to the side of the phone and the screen is even lifting up and getting a little flaky. Sometimes I think I should get a droid or something google, but where's the fun in that!

I did cook in FK right? SIPChange should be all you need to do. And just to restate it Advanced Config will fix the popping up of the SIP. I'm not sure what causes it but that will at least fix it if it bothers you.

Aren't we picky? Did you want the SPB ROM w\o Titanium? I should be able to cook it up that way. Or did you mean you wanted even Titanium stripped out of my base ROM? And I keep forgetting to cook in a registry editor hehe. But clarify what you mean and I'll see what I can do. But Titanium doesn't take up much space I believe.

I've never cooked, so I don't even know if what I'm asking is easy or a pain, but I like to leave my options open and have lots of memory available if possible....so I would want no titanium, manilla or spb. I will load HTCHOME2 or SPB or whatever ui I want on top of the stripped down base rom. I too have read titanium doesn't take up much space, but I never use it and really don't want titanium or manilla. I just want everything else you have there (don't really use g-alarm, marketplace, my phone or midomi or some other toys, actually never even tried any of them, but I might and I don't want to be too picky, )

Whatever you can do would be appreciated! Thanx again!

Re: Obviously Stable ROM | Updated 12/3 | All Carriers | 21876 | 25MB PP Titanium/SPB

I think I'll leave Titanium just because it's a base part of 6.5 and really is not much space. Now if I started cooking a 6.1 it obviously wouldn't have it. But I just haven't had any demand for a 6.1.

Maybe I did put a few extra apps on that aren't needed but there should be plenty of free space out of the box. Once I get an updated EXT I think I will update both ROMs with a registry editor and maybe remove a couple things.

It's not the pop up of the SIP that is annoying, it's the way it does it in the messaging interface on a reply to message. On a new message works fine, on a reply to email works fine. In just about every other case it works fine. But in the text replying area, it doesn't quite work right.

No biggie though. Everything else is as it should be.

Sorry it may just be a side effect of this particular build. I may try a different build.
