just wondering, I live with a family member that likes to watch 4 shows at once, would be nice to be able to watch something different, and even nicer to be able to watch on a larger screen then the diamond

thanks
Most of the streams are formatted to look good on a phone screen, but they aren't HD. So, blown up on a computer screen they will no longer look that good. You are better off going to some of the free sites to get some awesome similar content:

For news stuff and channels like Discovery, History Channel, CNN HD, MSNBC, Foxnews, Comedy Central, VH1, TNT, Cartoon Network, etc. go to

http://www.cvinetwork.com

Also check out

http://www.justin.tv

go to the entertainment area for TV shows and movies.

thanks for the info, I've seen some sites like those, I was looking for more of an app like what's on the phone, using the phone I get a good playback on the same wireless connection that my laptop gets which is choppy and all (I guess due to all the other stuff on the web pages)

As I stated, 80% of the streams will look crappy on a computer screen. The streams that are in Cvinetwork.com are formatted for computer use. How come your laptop plays them back choppy? Are you on a lower-end DSL connection?

You can use Realplayer for most streams, but you have to type each URL in to make it work, there is no ready app like you have on the phone. Keep in mind that the work was not in providing the app but in building up the playlist as well as getting the logo collection together. You could probably do something similar in Windows with a little programming knowledge in Visual Basic.

Believe it or not, I live in a 1 light town (a flashing light) that in order to get anything besides over the air tv you have to have satellite, same thing for internet, if you don't want dialup you have to get satellite, which we had until last week, problem with hughs net, you get 200meg/day from 7a-2a if you go over the 200meg you drop down to dialup speeds for 24 hours

now I have an alltel data card, speeds jump up and down, we have 1 cell tower in a 15 mile radius and it's verizon, even my cell phone loses it's signal inside the house. but for the most part on the alltel card we get dsl speeds, which I have plugged into an xp machine briged to a wireless router, total of 1 desktop and 2 laptops run off it

maybe I'll just watch off my diamond and use the ear plugs so it doesn't bother my brother while he channel surfs (I mainly listen to tv anyways while I surf the net)

I was just hoping to be able to have some kind of a program on the desktop and plug the url's in for the streams

Yes, open the Lumous wizard from the start menu and then press exit. It will ask if you want to run lumous on exit. Select "No" and you should be good to go.

Anyone having problems with the data connection never closing? I use autodisconnect GPRS and have it set to 30 seconds of idle time. After my e-mail syncs, or weather syncs, what have you, it should shutdown 30 seconds later. Unfortunately it doesn't.

I know there's a bug where it looks like the data connection is still active but isn't, but that's not the case here. I checked the connection through comm manager and it's definitely still active while nothing's going on.

I verified my Exchange sync settings and it's not set to 'as items arrive' it's set for 30 minute syncs.

Well, I'm not sure about autodiscinnect because I've never used it, but in the notifications window my data always shows connected with a timer and the timer is ticking since the last time I started the phone. It's always on, but not always transmitting. That's with every ROM I've ever used, not just this one. If it were transmitting all the time then the phone would be running hot and the battery would drain in about 2 hours

I used OMJ's rom until last night, and it definitely shuts down with the disconnector. Also, the data connection appears not to be running when it's connected via USB (checked conn mgr again and it's definitely not running). Once I untether the phone, after its first update the data connection is always on, battery is hot, and battery drains insanely fast. So I have to assume it's an always-on. I can manually shut it off, but the next time it updates it stays on permanently again.
