Re: PMD ROMz |12.06.09| |Sense 2.5 - 6.5.x 28005| |Manila 2.1 - 6.5.1 23502|

Just an update for everyone...

I'm really trying to get an update built for the 2.5 however all the latest 6.5.x systems seem to have really annoying bugs and I don't feel comfortable releasing something less stable than the current build in the name of newness. I am testing new systems as they come out and as soon as I get one thats as stable or better than the current build I will post it. Just didnt want anyone to think I had abandoned thread or anything.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Any update? Some of the changes in the latest OMJ 2.5 Sense seem worthwhile.

Also, have you looked at adding the Manila TV tab as an integrated part of the ROM? I assembled a huge list of stations that work with it (updated XML file and logo directory) and it takes up no memory room at all - currently running on it: MSNBC, CNN, Discovery (4 diff. Dicovery channels,) ESPN, FoxNews, Disney, TLC, ScyFy, Animal Planet, Cartoon Network, Oxygen, Bravo, Nasa, C-Span, CBS, History channel, A & E, Entertainment Tonight, The Weather Channel, Speed Network, Bloomberg, CNBC, BBC World, USA, CBS, NBC, ABC, lots more.

i think the only drawback to manila tv is that u need to know how to "update" it with the right channels...

The Manila TV cab creates a tab that replaces the Footprints tab.

Once installed a ManilaTV xml file is placed in the Applications/ManilaTV folder, alongside a logos folder. I have created a large xml file (which contains the links to the streams) as well as a large accompanying logo folder. Those need to be cooked in. Manila TV works with any player/viewer, so I mixed it up a bit, with some of the links using windows media player, others using Coreplayer, and yet a few more using the Skyfire browser. Both the Coreplayer (alternatively the TMPC player could be used) and Skyfire browser are in my /Internal Storage so as not to use any actual data memory.

Problem: 77 of the links I have are Mob i TV links, basically the entire catalogue of stations they have available, including news, documentary, music, and TV show stations.

http://www.mobitv.com/index2.php

Not sure if you recall, but there was some big deal about openly distributing their stuff previously, threats, all that jazz:

http://www.mediabistro.com/mobilecon...suit_79540.asp

Not sure if I have the appetite for that. If the links can't be taken out of a cooked ROM and then thrown all over the place, that would be ok with me, I would leave those links in there. But, if they can't then these links would be accessible, distributed, and changed quickly by them, rendering them worthless to me in one fell swoop.

So, I have worked out another manilatv.xml file that takes those particular links out, but still has quite a number of excellent links (more than 60 stations in total.)

I'll probably PM you with my material later tonight, so you can try it out and let me know what can be done about the issue of those links, which I would rather not lose to being changed in a few days because they can easily be taken.

Ok cool, I think I have a good working EXT now so with your xml files I may be able to get it working nicely. I read the stuff about Mobi and I'd say it wont be long before they change the links you have since they have backed off the legal side of it. But I'll keep looking into it.
