What are you guys using for text messaging in 2.5? I despise the testing app in whatever the latest "beta" one was. Is that was threaded txting is called? I found that when the keyboard was open you couldn't see what you were typing or the message you were replying to. I'll post a pic of my woes a little later.

Is it different in 23541 or should I just downgrade back to Sense 2.1 which in my opinion has a far superior text message solution?

Only glitch if you can call it that is the icon at the bottom on the dialer. Also, what are you guys using as a remote desktop client on this rom? I think it's once I went 6.5.3 my "wm6 remote desktop" cab won't work at all. It just sits there in a connecting state.

xclaw, click on the link below and scroll down to Post #3415. I attached a version of Remote Desktop 6.5 there that works with OMJ's 23541 Sense 2.5 2012 v1.1 ROM. Please note that it's for 6.5, and it does leave a little white space just above the 6.5.x start bottom bar.

Hi OMJ, anyone else having an issue with the WEather updates for the latest and greatest 2012 beta....I have it set to update every three hours but it only updates when i go to the weather tab

BTW, stocks tab seems to autoupdate fine

Well durn it all - I just spent several hours last night doing the first upgrade to my wife's Diamond. I put in the latest I found on the 1st page of the thread. Any reason why the newer update isn't up front with the rest of the info? (Love your stuff, thank you very much).

2nd question - can I get more than 6 shortcuts / quicklinks somehow? She's really not happy about that. :(

The reason that the latest it not on the front page is because i believe these newest ones are still classified as "beta" and they need more testing before posted to the front page.

Also the edit to allow more shortcuts on the home page has not been ported to the latest version of Sense

You have to install Max Manila 3.0 with a fix for the compression which is found on post #9 on the XDA site.

If it was for me, I'd have already been playing with Max Manila, but for my wife .............. I don't think so. One must 'keep it simple'. She doesn't want to have to jack with anything much and it must be stable. I have always found Max to be fun, but not rock solid. The basic switch to 6.5.3 and Sense 2.5 is quite a lot already.

Sense updates location and weather perfectly here with OMJ's latest 23541 Sense 2.5 2012 v1.1 ROM. Maybe try turning off your Location Services Settings under Sense Settings > Location, and then reactivating it. You could also try changing the update interval. I have it set to update every hour, and it's working as intended.

Schwarttzy, I have not noticed any strange symbols yet with Opera 10b3 and OMJ's latest 23541 Sense 2.5 ROM. Consider uninstalling 9.7 and giving 10b3 a test run. It can be installed to Internal Storage, has flash support (just enable plug-in's via settings), and has been working well here so far. That said, fr3sh_t0_d3f kindly posted a direct download for it as well as Google Maps 4 some pages back in this thread. Here's a link to the page:

Also, consider giving Gmaps4 as go too. It can be installed to Internal Storage, and it finally allows it's Application Data Folder to install there as well.

Short answer is no changes, same non beta 6.5.5 ROM. Check out the 2/26 release date at the top of Page 1, or OMJ's post around six replies back on this page where he says "I usually post new roms in the thread for a few days 1st just incase any weird issues arise.....I'll update right now. This rom is not a beta..."

Was just wondering, is there any easier way to switch between wifi and data connections? where I live, my data signal is pretty crappy and most of the time I am roaming, but I have wifi setup, so when I am at home I switch my phone to wifi, but I keep forgetting to either switch back to data when I leave or to wifi when I get home, didn't know if there was an easier way to switch other then going through the comm manager and having to turn one on and the other off?

I can always leave the wifi on and it would connect when I get home, but the data would be connected too? then which would take lead? the stronger signal?

OMJ,Should you try this 6.5NK,I always use it to bulid my 6950's rom. It comed from 6850. You won't to recmod anymore and it will be more stable.
But with this 6.5nk have one problem: pull out the stylus can't wake up the screen. Maybe you can fix it.

the beta builds I had were when 2012 1st was ported. I have not had a beta/test rom since 2/14. the 25006 rom I posted on 2/25 had the dialer issue, so I switched to 23541 on 2/26

I know there are programs out there, I'm just not familiar w/ them

well our Diamonds dont have a 6.5 native kernel, but I was told the GSM Diamond does, but the NK is sluggish.

I am actually working on a GSM Diamond & purposely not using NK

is your Diamond CDMA or GSM...if I remember correctly the Diamond in China is CDMA

Regarding posts about mylocation/agps not working in the newer builds. I vaguely recall the google maps in older roms (v. 3.2.1) showing my location before a gps lock occurred. It would say accurate up to 800m or 1000m, so I think that it was guessing my position by the tower ID before GPS could kick in.

I haven't noticed this behaviour in the newer roms, and I've been meaning to flash back to one of the older 21887 roms to confirm that I wasn't just dreaming/hallucinating this. So I will report back once I get a chance to flash it!

Also I discovered something new (at least to me), when you click and drag down from the area just to the left of the icons on the top bar, it will draw a line on the screen and some options come up to rotate the screen, or open the task manager (it's some task manager I've never seen before). As far as I know I didn't install anything that would have, put this there, can anyone else please confirm this? When did this get put in?

Alright so I just flashed "Sense 2.5 6.5.3 28014 v1.6" and after enabling the location service, I can confirm that Google maps is behaving as I described above. When I open google maps, without enabling gps (default is off), it instantly shows my location within 1000m. The exact version is 3.2.1 (#16).

Now whether it does this because a) it's cooked into the rom, b) it's version specific, c) some other ROM issue, - I don't know. Hopefully someone can figure this out. Does anyone have a cab for Google Maps 3.2.1 (#16)? That way I could install it on the most recent ROM and see if the functionality is there (then we know it's the specific version granting us this function).


EDIT: Ok I found version 3.2.1 (#17)

and it has the same functionality on the "Sense 2.5 6.5.3 28014 v1.6" ROM. Time to flash the current ROM.

Also tried Google Maps version 4.0.0 (#81) and it works in the same way on "Sense 2.5 6.5.3 28014 v1.6", so it doesn't seem to be version specific.

FINAL EDIT:

Flashed back to the most recent ROM "Sense 2.5 2012 6.5.5 23541 v1.1", enabled location service, installed Google Maps 4.0.0 (#81) to device, and it is not bringing up my location. When I click the blue dot it says "You current location is temporarily unavailable".

In conclusion, it seems that something has changed between "Sense 2.5 6.5.3 28014 v1.6" and "Sense 2.5 6.5.3 28014 v1.6" which breaks this tower-ID functionality of Google Maps.

ONE MORE FINAL EDIT:

For good measure, I also just tested version 3.2.1 (#17) on the latest ROM and it too does not do the tower-ID as it did in the older ROM.

At this point I'm passing the ball to someone else to figure out what was changed in between these ROMs, because that's an area that I'm a noob in. Cheers folks

Bob: it looks like in the upper left they hid a "Start" menu. There's a data connection icon, battery level, etc. I tried the other click and drag thing and saw the green lettering that says 90, 270 and 360. Interesting find.
BTW, I tried Max Manila 3.0 with the latest OMJ and it was so screwed up I had to uninstall it. Such a shame. All I really want is a more visible icon on Today screen that says how many Emails I have.
Also, I see on the Page 1 jpg of the quick link screen a 4 x 3 matrix, making 12 buttons. Why do I only have 6 (3 x 2) ?

It's due to the new 2012 sense and there not being a working modification for the quick links quite yet. But I believe some people are working on it.

You know, my googlemaps v4 and mylocation works just dandy in the newest build. GM doesn't lock instantly anymore, maybe 5 seconds, but it does get 10 sats. And my weather updates perfectly, even when on the road.
