Thanks guys that was exactly what I was looking for. Worked perfectly. You would think microsoft would set that as a feature! Maybe in future releases they will.

Has the wather on the today screen been made available as a cab intall or is it too cooked into the rom to be installed onto another rom?

Yeah I might have to reflash then. Out of curiosity, are you running Opera 10 or 9.7? Also, how much total storage memory does your device show? Mine only shows 63.67MB total.

I Just reflashed to stock then to 21870 because I realized that I still hate 23xxx builds. I don't think he included opera 10 in his 6.5 ROM.

I'm not sure wehre you're looking at your space. When I went to "device information" it says 62MB, but when I got to isntall something on the device it says I have 40MB on my device free, and I KNOW the rom is more than 20MBs, so I would flash back to stock and then flash OMJ Sense again. Even if you flash 28002 with opera 10 you should have AT LEAST 30MB on your device to play with, because I JUST flashed 6.5 and I have 40MB free no matter what "device information" says. It actually has 40MB free.
I don't think you really answered his question. ~60M total memory is most likely what it should show when you are using a manila 2.5 rom. With the diamond we have 256M ROM for storage, the resulting total memory you will see on your device equals '256M - size of unpacked ROM you using' (so if you have 62M total memory being displayed, the ROM was most likely ~194M unpackged). Manila 2.5 ROM's are much bigger than previous ROM's because of all the extra dependencies (I've never made a ROM that was over 130M, now I can't make one under 160M), this is why you are seeing a smaller total memory, and why you don't have nearly as much free space.

So you surely do have more than 62M of total memory, but you only have 62M that you can actually use. If you've ever tried to overwrite a file that was part of the ROM (i.e you didnt add it after flashing), you will see that you do not get back the space of the original file (i.e you can never get that back that space) and the new file will take up space from your 'total displayed memory'. (not just the difference, the entire file size)

Figured it out! Thanks.

Thanks Omni, that answered my question and now I know how to interpret the available memory. I wonder if the Opera 9.7 ROM will leave more memory available than the Opera 10 ROM?

well honestly i think manilla is looking for a wifi connection instead of the 3g data connection because it wont turn it on to use it. i have to use wifi to do twitter or weather and for facebook. but google maps finds the connection but nothing in manilla does. so i say go wifi until the bug is fixed

I just checked memory, storage= 30mb free, program= 98mb free, thats one downside to manila 2.5....it takes up more space

first of all, I konw you been gettin nothing but "thanks, great rom" but its true, it really is appreciated.

Second. Is there a way to add a "games" folder shortcut to the programs under the clock since I only get 6 and on the old tf3d roms there was a way to add a games shortcut where it just opened the folder.

Third.the animted wallpaper on my today home doesnt work half the time, is there something special that toggles it or a way for it to show the weather animation every time I'm in the home tab?

thx...it's my pleasure :D

it doesnt appear there is a way to add a shortcut to a folder, there may be a workaround but I'm not sure

are you using the weather animation? if so, it will only play the animation after certain events, like going to the start menu & back or bring up the phone pad then go back to home. it doesnt play just by going from one tab back to home....I'm not sure why, but it is intended.....this has been discussed b4...

Take a look at the first file posted there (Applications - e-Natives Showcase Suite 1.1.0.zip). As previously stated, what I've done is remove the all the ways of opening the enatives suite task manager component as this is what cause our devices to freeze (i.e removed icons in start menu and changed the hold start menu binding).

This reg entry :
"SUITE_TaskManager_Path"="\\Windows\\taskmgr.e xe"
Allows you to bind the start button to any app you want, I've just chosen the default task manager.

The result is a functional X button close, no freezing at all, and an easily accessible task manager.

thx, I need to look into this, as I need a good solution for closing apps in 6.5.x builds....do you still cook in the task manager or just showcase?

Here's a question... I notice a lot of time that when I install a program it reduces the available "Storage" memory" rather than "Program" memory, why is that? I currently have 47Mb free "storage" and 89Mb free "program" and would rather have post flash stuff install there of course (btw, currently of a manila 2.1 rom for now, but been going back and forthe). Is there a way to make things install in "program" memory as opposed to "storage" memory?

I tried about 3 or 4 or these programs a few months back and they each had pro's and con's and were buggy. I just yesterday checked again and there had of course been some more recent updates. Here is the one i put on yesterday. It's lite and seems to be functioning bug free for two days..

That's because Program memory is a misleading label... Program memory is the phones actual RAM or CPU Memory, while the Storage Memory is actually the Storage space left on the device for programs and files. Anything you install to the device will lower the Device storage. The program memory will fluctuate depending on how many things the phone is trying to do at one time. Install to the Internal Storage when possible.

Exactly,

Program Memory = RAM available
Storage = Flash(i.e actually writable storage) memory available

I don't know if some technical point keeps this from being possible, but with Manila 2.5 so large, maybe something you could do would be to distribute your ROMs with two files? One would be the ROM file to flash, and one would be an additional zip that would be unzipped to the root of Internal Storage.

This way, all the programs like Opera that work from flash that you would like to bundle can still be bundled, and the whole thing together would still be fully working out of the box without the user having to install more programs, but it would save on scarce storage memory. The shortcuts to all of the programs on internal storage could already be cooked into the ROM.

Thoughts?

Ok, so I just flashed the 28002 w/Manilla 2.5 ROM and Opera 9.7 and now I have about 39MB of free 'Storage' space, vs the less than 1MB I had previously when running Opera 10.0. I had installed a few apps before, so I'll keep an eye on the free space that I have as I install some of the apps I had previously.

Resco File Explorer allows you to send a shortcut to a folder to the Start menu which you can then add to the quicklinks

I'd say your deffinatly doing a great job... Love opera 10, and everything seems to work great on my end, I've been bouncing between yours and Mysterys ROM and so far I like yours best... there seems to be some stuff i'd love to see gone on my ROM that I don't use like in call recorder, microsoft my phone, marketplace, spb screen shot, audio booster, FM radio, windows live, Messenger and i wish that the task manager that is in the system folder could be accessible through the quicklinks... I don't know if this stuff is really using much space but I don't need it, and unfortunatly I am not a very good cook so I am totally dependant on your skills. I use my phone for business and don't need all of the extra goodies... but again THANX for all of your efforts. And i'm phsyked for 12 quicklinks.

If I remember correctly, the ROM partition is a set size, or at least that how it was on previous devices....so you wanted to make sure you included all your favorite apps in the rom, so you wouldnt waste any space.

Someone please refresh my bad memory...setting a higher pagepool robs memory from storage or program? I believe it is program...

By any chance, do you use MS My Phone for backing up? The reason I ask is after I talled OMJ's rom and did restore/backup I had a whole bunch of duplicate files stored in "storage memory". The only way I could see/get rid of them was by active syncing, and deleting through windows explore.

I have recooked the 28002 rom that includes opera 10, it now has Opera 10 cooked in, instead of installing during customization. Added the 12 quick links on home tab, removed htc task mgr, added enative showcase that will close apps on X. Replaced the sunny animation again with the Yog patched one. uploading soon

Am I the only one that doesnt like the 12 program tabs? haha, the regular windows program launcher ,aka start menu, works just fine for me! I do like having Opera cooked in better, thanks for the update!

By any chance, do you use MS My Phone for backing up? The reason I ask is after I talled OMJ's rom and did restore/backup I had a whole bunch of duplicate files stored in "storage memory". The only way I could see/get rid of them was by active syncing, and deleting through windows explore.

Yes I use MS My Phone, but I didn't experience the duplicate files like you did.

After reflashing a few hours ago I'm no longer experiencing the low memory problem. The only difference is that I used the Opera 9.7 ROM this last time instead of the Opera 10 ROM.

I just checked and I still have about 18MB of 'Storage' memory available after installing a lot of applications. I did notice that after I added 6 contacts to the 'People' tab and set them to synchronize with Facebook, my available Storage memory dropped from about 24MB to 18MB.

I pretty much have my phone the way I want it now and don't really need to install any new apps, so I think I'll be good for now with the 18MB free memory vs the less than 1MB I had earlier today before the flash.
