OAT, are you saying this app actually works in Gadget rom? I tried G-config which automatically configs the registry for specific apps, and it did not work.

Yes, changescreen and gadgetrom 1.95a work fine for me.

By default the auto rotation was turned off and the send key was set to manually rotate the screen. I installed Voice Command and had to reassign the send button to VC.

I can't get any screens to rotate. I enable rotation in G-config and did the calibration and I flipped the device around side to side and the display will not go to landscape.
I tried the home screen and Opera and the position stays fixed.
Is there some other configuration needed?

Bit confused here since I've been off of Gadget's rom awhile. Anyway, to the best of my recollection, I was using a different program for screen rotation. Unforturnately I don't remember what it was for sure (GSen?), although I'm sure it is listed in a post a few up from the one you quoted from Procter. More recently I've used Flip It, which I can post if you can't find with a search.
