[April '09] New Radio V1.07.06F - Port from TP

Here is the new radio ported from the US Cellular Touch Pro. Post your opinions and comparisons on the radio. Maybe this radio also will make its way to the stickied thread, if Juggalo thinks everything looks good.

Ditto. I like the Telus radio I'm on. But I don't mind trying new things.
[Especially if they say "MightyROM" on them.]

One question though (and it doesn't really matter, as I just flashed anyway, but others might want to know), since this is flashing just the radio, does it also install a new PRL?

Re: [April '09] New Radio V1.07.06F - Port from TP

so far so good. I noticed I went from 3 bars to 1 on average but the data is still fast, in fact maybe faster than the telus but still testing. I love the Telus radio, just one thing I notice at times is it takes a while to warm up if that makes sense. If you run a speed test, it will do poorly on the first or second try, but afterwards it peaks out about the same as the sprint radio 1.11.00f. But the telus radio will often show more bars than the sprint radio.

Now this new radio 1.07 is moving pretty quick from the get go. and I just got one test that was about as fast as I have ever got in my house. 1055kbs. (with a one bar on the screen) So I am wondering if the the bars are not that important?

Great job ajm144K!! you should post it in the radio thread or pm Juggalo to have him include it on the radio sticky:)

Does this work with a sprint touch pro? Is the battery life any better with this radio?

No this one is packaged for the diamond. You can find this radio packaged for the tpro here:

regarding battery life, i dont think anyone with a diamond can really comment on that yet since we've only had this radio for a couple hours. we'll know soon.

Is this really possible?
Oh. Wait. I think I know what happened.
......

OK. That's more realistic... I was still synced and it must have connected through my PC. The second one is the second test after I disconnected from the USB port. The 1st was horrible- showed something like 32KB/s. Must have still been initiating the connection.

well I just got 1.18mbs so not as good....
did it like 5 or 6 times. results ranging from 877 to 1.18. Not too shabby but about the same as the sprint and telus, just more consistent than the telus for me.

You get 1.18MB/s using EVDO?

I thought it maxed out around 1MB/s? No?

Is that where you got your quote from? If so, they are talking about upload. In theory, download speed to 3.1 Mbps and peak upload speed to 1.8 Mbps.

im on EVDO where im at also, i put my speedtest results in the first post. i think it was right about the same- a little over 1 mb/s download

yes. I noticed this site shows faster data speeds than dlsreports. but even on dlsreports, I got 1055 once about an hour ago. at work I get up to 1600 at times.

Re: [April '09] New Radio V1.07.06F - Port from TP

ok. for some reason, i was not receiving any pics, and my data was terrible. i flashed right back to the telus, and i received everything i sent....maybe just a crazy moment, but ill stick with telus for now.

wel if your data connection is having a prob, your mms will to. not necessarily vice versa though.

but for what its worth, my data and mms -send n receive- have worked for me so far

So true. They are nice for a quick, visual reference, but you can get superior quality from the same bars.

Thanks for posting this, AJM. I'm gonna check it out now.

im going to flash it again. and try some more testing. maybe it was just a fluke that it was happening.

Initial results seem about the same as the most recent 1.11.00F radio I have been using. Data results are a little scattered, at a glance. I'll report back in a couple days when I can give a decent report.

its like your custom battery bars... some have 2 notches when there is 30 percent left, and some say low battery when there is 40

i havent dropped into 1x. dont think i used to that often on my last radio either, the telus one. signal seems to be the same as the telus, but its a good signal. but i think the battery life may be better- havent done any serious tests or anything, it just seems to last longer after being on the internet for a while this morning. im about positive that its at least not worse than the telus.

other opinions?

my first full day with this radio has been fine overall. No noticeable difference for me on the battery end. data has been as good or better than telus. But the telus is very good as well. strange thing is this radio bounces around alot with bars, somewhat similiar to the sprint 1.11.00f radio. I wonder if people are switching to 1x mode more often due to fact that the bars are noticeably less on this radio. I know bars are somewhat irrelevant/inaccurate but that makes me wonder if the device is switching over thinking that the ev signal is too weak?

hey guys wondering, i was running the sprint rom at first had problems then flashed to the verizon radio and been pretty good so far. Going to try this one right now. Question is, here is new england it's said that Verizon gets one of the best receptions around. Would keeping the verizon radio maybe get better reception when i roam on their towers?

Unknownforce 04-15-2009 06:01 PM

Re: [April '09] New Radio V1.07.06F - Port from TP

I flashed this this morning from Telus... This was less than 8 hours ago and my battery has sunk to 47% already because of the poor signal. I live in North Central Illinois.

Everytime I take it out of my pocket, it's warm. (warmer than normal) and I haven't used it ONCE today, I've received 2 text messages all day, no internet browsing, no data connection, no phone calls, no outbound messages...

Needless to say.. I'm going back to Telus.

Just my experience.

hasseye 04-15-2009 08:51 PM

Re: [April '09] New Radio V1.07.06F - Port from TP

had the verizon radio...flashed to this radio and was once again experiencing delayed text messages just like with almost all the sprint radios..flashing to the telus rom since everyone seems it works the best.

Drybonz 04-15-2009 08:53 PM

Re: [April '09] New Radio V1.07.06F - Port from TP

I'm getting some pretty decent results with the 1.07.06F radio.

Data speeds are quite good. Jury is still out on the battery life, but it's looking pretty good.

Looks like this is gonna be an upgrade for me. Thanks again ajm.

ajm144k 04-16-2009 05:59 PM

Re: [April '09] New Radio V1.07.06F - Port from TP

i'd have to say, for me, this radio performs data speed- / signal-wise about the same as the telus radio. maybe a better -or at least more consistent- signal for me, sometimes. but something about it has improved my battery life (maybe the more consistent signal??) but, as with all radios, it looks like this one's performance depends on where you actually are located.

no way to really determine that... with radios it seems that your location matters more than your carrier. this thread has a list of what radios have been working well in 51 different cities, but it hasnt been updated since this new us cellular radio came out.
