Alltel GPS fix.
For those of you who have a newer HTC Touch Diamond from Alltel and cannot get the GPS working like it should I have found a really simple fix.
1. Make sure your location setting is set to "On" find this by Start > Settings > Phone > Settings > Location Setting > "On" 2. Run the QPST program as detailed in this post and make sure your phone has the correct gpsOne settings: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...13&postcount=1 3. Using a registry editor navigate to the following reg key: HKLM > Software > HTC > SUPL AGPS and change the GPSMode (Value) = 1 (save and reboot) So, all of the settings in my SUPL AGPS now read as follows: EnableAGPS = 1 EnableGPSSmartMode = 1 GPSMode = 1 NumberFixes = 999999999 QoSAccurace = 50 QosPerformance = 89 ServerIP = 205.142.19.100 (Conflip's ROM has a different addy?) ServerPort = 8888 TimeBetweenFixes = 1 I have a newer HTC Touch Diamond I purchased in Dec - 2008 and there seems to be some slight difference with the "newer" phones and the "older" phones. Try this and see if it works for you, it did for my phone. Backing up your registry before editing is always a good idea.

Re: Alltel GPS fix.
Funny thing is Tobey, I've been trying to get my GPS working since day 1 of having this phone.
Lots of other people are having this same problem and at least two (2) other people now have their GPS working after following this procedure. Trust me, I'm not just trying to take up board space, I'm solving a known issue for the newer Alltel Diamonds. The reg entries preceding the QPST fix are not listed, only cabs. I've used those and they did not work on my phone, but my procedure works. Link to Conflip's ROM thread with others now working: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...=42802&page=85 Last edited by CenFlo; 01-27-2009 at 10:36 AM. |

Re: Alltel GPS fix.
It makes no difference to me, I'm just saying that what you're doing in this thread is exactly the same as the sticky, except I did notice you're no longer using the aGPS server as per GPSMode = 1, so I'm guessing you're relying on QuickGPS?

if you go to settings > system > device information > identity it has the model number right there. i was under the impression that the diam500 was the north american cdma model, and they have all been 500s. there were some diam100s or something that were euro, i think? and then the diam110 is north americas 3g... Again, I will restate and reiterate for the jury... My Diamond that I purchased in December of 2008 has not locked on to the GPS sats/towers with any reliability since I've owned it. I have tried everything short of returning the phone and getting a new one to make it work. Then, I finally made the small registry change and BADA-BING it now works. Tobey, I will admit I'm no ROM chef, programmer, Messiah or anything of that matter. I am a savvy tech person, have a background in IT and electronics. I also use GPS in many areas of my personal life (car, boat) and also practice and use the Free to air (FTA) satellites and boxes. Bottom line this wasn't just me not clicking on a CAB file or something silly of that nature, it was driving me nuts and I finally got it to work reliably. |

Re: Alltel GPS fix.
I'm glad you have it working, all I was saying is that there is only slight change from one to the other.

And, that one little change is all it took for my GPS to work. |

Perhaps there is a slight difference in the chipset for the GPS or even a difference in how it is instructed via the ROM. Heck, I don't know it's just a theory. I can tell you this with no uncertainty, my GPS now works. Edit: I also want to note that when Conflip updated the GPS drivers in some of his ROMs my GPS would not work at all...
