Repeating text messages

I saw this somewhere in a thread before but I cannot find it any more.

Basically, my phone either sends or recieves many multiples of the same message without me telling it to. I once received 30 texts of the same message, from the same person all displaying the same "sent" time. Now my freinds are telling me they are receiving multiples of messages I have sent to them.

This happened both on Juicy and Mighty ROMS.

Any fixes for this? Thank you very much.

For the sent texts, make sure you dont have anything stuck in your Outbox or Drafts folders. That happened to me and I had like 4 msgs that resent like 30 times before I figured it out. I don't know about the received texts though.

Ive had the same problem I reflashed the rom over again and the problem has stopped...... fa now. any1 else have any other ideas on how to fix this bug

i had the same problem and juicy put out a new rom in like a day so i just flashed the new one and problem was fixed i think it was around 4.1 juicy rom when it happened to me

ive had some of my friends send multiple texts, i think its reception issues. no one has told me about me sending them a bunch.

ok i used to work for a cell phone company... and txt msgs work like this...

you send your message,
the message center (number) sends the cell phone a hidden message that says they got it. if it doesnt recieve it... then its the phone. and so it resends it and it goes for 72 hours.

now if you are recieving it... its basically the same thing. the company's message center will keep sending it to you until your phone sends out a recieved msg and the msg center will stop sending. basically its all up to ur phone. or the message center.

since ur running a rom. you should hard reset, or re install the rom.

I had this happening and kept on happening over a few different flashes of MightyROM and Juicy. [I was so convinced that it wasn't my phone that was causing it that my wife and I both called Sprint a few times to have them troubleshoot the network!]

After a few inquiries, Mike suggested doing a hard reset using the 1234 Clear Storage method instead of just flashing or using the buttons. I did it twice, just to make sure. Not one problem since then.

I had the same problem when I flashed to Juicy - 4.1 I believe - but it fixed itself when I flashed back to another ROM.

yup, thanks everybody. i did the "clear storage" thing then reflashed a ROM. Coveniently MightyROM 4.1 had just been released sp it was good timing No more issues.
