You can't be serious. If that's true, I don't there's much you can do, outside of getting it warranteed or exhanged.

Re: HOW TO: Recover a Diamond that won't get past the boot screen! (Instructions)

Hi there! I have the same problem, slightly worse. I have a Sprint Diamond, unlocked. Has SPL-0.57CMONEX. Device also has water damage. USB port works for charging but no data transfer/ActiveSync. I managed to set up a bluetooth ActiveSync connection and using WMDC on Vista.
Basically, I can only flash a ROM via internal storage, via bluetooth.

After flashing Calkulin's 6.5, having it successfully boot once, I'm now stuck on the HTC screen. I can enter bootloader/perform a hard reset/etc. It just won't boot. I don't have any other ROM files on my internal storage other than the one I flashed. Is there any possible way to put another ROM on the internal storage? And if not that, does anyone know if HTC will repair a water-damaged phone?

Oh and first post here, hi. This is for my brother's phone, you can catch me at the XDA Dream forums.

Brilliant dude!!
I had a bad crash hang everytme the device tried to start. Couldn't fix and was getting desperate. Your instructions let me load a stock ROM and get back to function.
Much thanks from a newb.

Have you tried reflashing the same ROM from internal storage? Sometimes a bad flash can be resolved this way. Then, you can AS through bluetooth or just download a new ROM to the internal storage. Beyond that, I'm not sure what else you can do.

Re: HOW TO: Recover a Diamond that won't get past the boot screen! (Instructions)

ok need some guidance, i have a touch diamond that i can get in to bootloader, hard reset, i can even make it load the rom from the internal storage. but once it loads from storage it say boot success , then hangs. wont reset nuttin. if i put it in bootloader it wont recognize my comp,(i just got it this way, its a friends) it stays on serial changed usb cables and all. any body have an idea how i can get this phone to boot up. it has been unlocked . in bootloader it reads spl-0.057.cmonex, and along the very top reads security unlocked. any help would be great.
also just to note when started normaly it gets to the last boot screen and stops. he also told me that the phone was in the middle of a rom update when the battery died. i hope its not bricked

Inside the phone there is a piece of litmus paper. it changes color when it gets wet. this voids any replacement of the phone.

what I did to get around this...

My 10 year old daughter dropped her HTC Touch in the toilet... don't ask.

I opened the phone and removed the paper, then i "simulated" damage that made the phone appear to have been run over by a bus...

including a cracked screen and skid marks from a parking lot.

picture a grown man ice skating on a phone in a parking lot.

anyway $100 later they replaced the phone with a rebuilt touch as per our insurance agreement. they never asked about possible water damage.

Be careful if you attempt to do this in the near future as I have just read in a post that someone damaged their Diamond and it was replaced with a Touch. The insurance company felt this was an acceptable and equal replacement...

Re: HOW TO: Recover a Diamond that won't get past the boot screen! (Instructions)

I think I have a new paper weight.
Last night my Diamond's battery died, but when I went to charge it this morning it won't charge or turn on. I was going to check tonight if it's just the cable, but it does seem strange. I flashed NRG Oct. 25th rom and had no problems until today. Do you think it is a probelm with the rom? Also, if a new battery/cable doesn't get it going, would it be worth sending it for warranty (as I have a couple of weeks left on the 1 year), or would they say no you flashed it. Any input would be helpful, thanks.

Did you flash to stock before flashing the NRG ROM? You still should be able to get to bootloader mode, even if you have corrupt flash that just manifested itself.

Otherwise, I would try a new battery and cable. I would venture a bet that it could be the battery.

If not, I would try to get warranteed. If it is a brick, they probably won't be able to tell that it's been flashed. Just to be on the safe side, though, you could try this:

***DISCLAIMER: If you do the following, I take no resposibilty for you blowing up your house, your car or injuring yourself, or damaging any household appliances***

Remove the battery from the phone and connect a 9-volt battery via a couple of wires to the phone's battery contacts. You'll probably need to try all 3 in different combos to make sure that you've "surged" it, but that should work.

This advice is not intended for someone trying to brick a good phone with the intent of defrauding your service provider or insurance. It is intended for someone trying to ensure that a seemingly "dead" phone being sent back for exchange does not display a "contraband" ROM.

Thanks for the advice.
Strangely enough I pulled the battery and left it out for a while, put it back and plugged the USB in and it started charging. When I turned it on the battery said 100%, which it wasn't, then it charged up and is working fine. I will reflash tonight, but I am beginning to wonder if it may be the cable (I noticed the one end is coming loose) or just a one time fluke. I really do not think it has anything to do with NRG's rom, they have been the most stable I have tried.
