Good question! I hadb't even thought of that. Of course, if he's seeing the rainbow screen, he must've at least tried.

Flashing a shipped ROM that is not for your device, or unplugging it half way through, or having a ROM without certain essential system files in it will cause it to go to the tricolour screen with an error message, so maybe not :(.

I didn't know that! I always assumed the tricolor screen was an artifact of the unlocking program!

Ya learn something new every day here!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I was very worried when my Diamond wouldn't boot up. I just installed Calkulin's v5 7-9 with windows mobile 6.5. It kept losing the data connection and the phone started acting really slow, so I pulled the battery out and it never rebooted. After breaking my pinky to hit all 4 pressure points, it worked like a charm.

Please disregard. Due to lack of sleep, I mistook the volume down and the Down keys and couldn't enter bootloader *smacks head on wall*

Glad it worked for you!

On my first attempt at triggering the bootloader, I thought the button combination was not meant for humans, but after a few tries, it does get easier.

I would just like to say thanks to everyone who contributes....I put the latest mighty rom on my Diamond and it was acting very strange. When I restarted I was stuck on the boot screen and with this info I was able to revive my toy. Thanks again everyone!!

I was trying to update to different rom, i cannot get my phone to boot to rom. It hangs at diamond screen and restarts. I was able to get it to the boot loader but activesync wont recognize the phone.

is there another usb based sync program that i can use to dump another rom?

Diamond CDMA had energyrom loaded

I am at tricolor screen with USB connection listed.

UPDATE: got it fixed thanks to http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/customavat...atar2845_4.gif FastRX8 post #35
