Is my gps broken? Yes--it was--resolved

I have tried everything to get GPS to work but nothing. I have done the tutorial posted as a sticky here, entered in the Bell settings, but it will not find any sats. I have put it on com 4 and on let windows manage gps--nothing. quick gps updates fine. Can anyone confirm that they have a bell phone in toronto, running Juicy 4.2 (or other rom) and have gps working with google map? Maybe it isn't just me.

I don't have Bell, so I'm no help there. But I would recommend updating your ROM to Juicy's 4.3 revision found here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=48107

Update to the newest radio (optional) found here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=40609

Make sure your location setting is checked "on" in Start<Settings<Personal Tab<Phone<Services<Location Setting

and also make sure your External Gps Settings Found in Start<Settings<System<External GPS are set to COM4 in programs port, None in Hardware port, baud rate 4800, and check off "Manage GPS autiomatically" in the Access Tab.

Hope that helps!

GPS Tool

Everything Steve said is right.

For this step though: "Make sure your location setting is checked "on" in Start<Settings<Personal Tab<Phone<Services<Location Setting."
First Turn it off, close that screen, then go back in and turn it on, just to make sure.

Then use this program, GPS Tool (attached). I believe it has a satellite tab, so you can see how your GPS is doing on a connection. If you see even 1 satellite, your GPS is fine, you just don't have a good enough signal.

Let us know how you do (but this should be in the gps thread).

Thanks. I have all the setting right. I have a question about radios--the ones listed on the link you gave me all say sprint or telus--should I avoid them because I am on Bell?

No. Thats alright. You can load any of the Diamond radios. I personally am using the Newer Telus 1.04 radio.

I hope you have good results!

Did the GPS work with the stock Bell ROM. I had the same iisue once, the GPS would only work with the stock Telus ROM for some reason. All the settings were fine, it just did not matter.

Im currently now running Juicy 4.4, and the GPS works now. You should try re flashing the stock ROM first, that way you can confirm if the GPS is really cooked or not. Make sure to install Tobey's GPS Registry Cab

Re: Is my gps broken?

the gps never worked with the stock rom (even went back to stock to try it). I went to radio 1.04.05v, and still no luck. Tried on juicy 4.4--nothing. It is hard to believe that the rest of the phone works but no gps. I have all the settings right, etc. At this point I would give money to the person who could get it to work. Is there a way to go back to radio 1.04.02 in order to to take this thing back to Bell?
