Re: Flashing on OS X via Parallels
I think it would work... The ROM you are flashing is what is important about flashing onto your phone, not what OS your desktop is running... If you can get a good, strong connection with XP in Parallels, you should be fine... I wish I had more experience or advice to give, but I do not... Good luck with the ROM flash!

Re: Flashing on OS X via Parallels
I have problems with Parallels 4 and Fusion 2 = can't flash. I get an error everytime. The flash never starts. Use bootcamp to flash or cook up your rom on Parallels and rename it to diamimg.nbh and transfer the file to the root of your Storage.
Flash by holding down POWER, VOLUME DOWN and BACK and press and release RESET until you see the grey screen asking you what to do, release the other 3 buttons. Press POWER to start flash. If the rom fail for some bad reason, ie. cooking the rom wrong, make sure you have bootcamp or a windows machine ready to reflash another rom. BOOTCAMP WORKS!!!! Reflash by putting the phone in bootloader and use the RUU. Refer to http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36062 if you have any question how to flash. Believe me I have cook bad roms but I never bricked the phone. Hope this helps. I give my THANKS to the community!!!!

Re: Flashing on OS X via Parallels
I just tried this last night and I was unable to get it to work
Had to boot into bootcamp windows xp for it to flash/unlock correctly. I believe the problem is once the software on windows restarts the phone into bootloader mode the computer detects it as a different usb device. This by default would then not be automatically detected by windows under osx unless you forced the usb device to connect to windows via parallels. I could never get it to unlock correctly until I just rebooted into windows. It then worked like a charm. Hopefully this makes sense :P. |

Re: Flashing on OS X via Parallels
Makes perfect sense Matt. I had the same experience and had to install Windows on Boot Camp to get things to work properly. I do have a PC desktop but would rather flash via my Macbook laptop since we do have frequent power outages here.
