v1.2 of grooveROM is 100% stock except that it has a 16MB pagepool and FM Radio enabled.

Re: Stock sprint rom with new pagepool possible?

I've seen this asked a few times with no answers given.
What is the benefit of changing the pagepool?
Some make it larger, some smaller. I have yet to see a difference in perceived speed.

Re: Stock sprint rom with new pagepool possible?

I'll try to give an answer to the best of my abilities...
Pagepool is kind of like virtual memory (using hard drive as extra RAM) on your computer. Technically, if you have enough RAM on your pc, then you wouldn't need virtual memory. But windows requires a pagepool even if you have 3+ gigs of ram.

I read numerous threads about pagepool, and have tried different variations.

0MB - (dynamic pagepool) My current setup. Diamond has enough RAM to get by w/out pagepool. Some users complain about system glitches when the available RAM gets full.. some say by the end of the day, you have to soft reset the device to clear up the memory. But, works fine for me, and it's the FASTEST at boot.

6MB - stock rom. There's a reason why sprint made this stock size. Works just right.

16MB - Multiple applications can be opened at the same time, and run w/out glitch. Problem I've seen with 16MB is, phone tends to get hotter and battery drain seems faster than 6.
