Re: [DEC 5th New Telus Radio V1.04.05V] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Thread

Hey everyone,

As a newbie to flashing ROMs onto my Telus Diamond, I just want to say thanks to everyone posting who enabled me to learn to do all this. I just wanted to ask a few quick questions before i install the new telus radio (i.e. Telus Radio V1.04.05V), as I'm seeing that a lot of people agree that it has benefitted their phone greatly in many ways.

1. I have a custom rom installed already (Juicy 4.2) and I put all of my backed-up files and programs back onto my phone. Now, i've seen people saying that by installing the telus rom, i won't lose my installed data cause it does only a soft reset? I just wanted to validate this point and confirm this is true so that I know I don't have to re-install everything I have on my phone.

2. This question could pose to be an unintelligent question, as the answer might be obvious. Before flashing a new radio onto my phone, do i need to redo the unlocking procedure? Or do i just run RUU and place the radio file in the folder as I did when i installed my ROM?

Thanks again everyone!!

1 -- you shouldn;t lose any data

2 -- you don't need to unlock again

Re: [DEC 5th New Telus Radio V1.04.05V] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Thread

Well, i was having pretty good reception and data with the VZW1.03.03, but thought I would try the new Telus 1.04.05.
So far, this is the best radio I have had in an HTC phone on Sprint. I always had problems with phone reception at home with my Touch and as well the Diamond with the stock Sprint rom. No problems at all today in areas I always had calls dropped and no bars. It seems to go to 1x a little quicker than the stock rom, not holding on to the bitter end. Phone still gets warm after 10-15 minutes, but not any warmer than any of the other roms. today i didn't use it much except a couple of short calls, and about 5 min. of Google Maps, but after about 8 hours I still had only lost one bar of battery. Looks like this is a keeper.....at least for me.

As far as I know, And I'm sure it'll be corrected if im wrong, Text messages only get sent in 1x mode?

I read the same thing somewhere too, but I had no problems sending them, only receiving them. If I made a phone call OR switched back to 1x mode, I got all my "queued" texts.

Just to confirm this, I flashed radio just a few days ago...

1.) As has been said before, No data loss. No hard reset, it will look the same as flashing a rom, and it will hit 99% and pause (don't panic, just let it go) but it will continue to flash it and update the radio only. It will boot just like normal and everything will be in tact.

2.) Not a dumb question at all, not everyone understands the way these devices work. But, no you do not have to unlock it, once you unlock it the first time, it's unlocked until you RELOCK it. So unless you re-locked it, you do not have to unlock it again.

Re: [DEC 5th New Telus Radio V1.04.05V] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Thread

I went from the Stock Sprint Radio to the Telus 1.04.05. Here's what I'm seeing so far:

Positive
-increased battery life (10-15%, nearly a day with my typical usage)
-phone runs cooler (streaming hulu via skyfire for prolong periods doesn't get the phone as hot as before.
-has not caused any problems with phone usage

Negative
-data speeds decreased (50-100% slower via various speedtests, downloads, tethering)
-signal quality slightly decreased (a bar less in my house and spikes often while before it was quite stable)

Not sure if I'll stick with this radio. I will probably try the TP one next. Possibly the Verizon after. On a side note, can anyone confirm that using the verizon nbh file in a different loader will flash the radio without a hard reset?

I'm back to the Verizon radio for now. The Telus gave me better signals, but it spikes too much, especially where I am staying for winter break. The phone would keep on losing data connection, and I had to soft reset to get it back.

txt messages are alwayes sent in 1x as text messages use the radio of the phone just like making a call. Only media messages use evdo if its available and those use the data connection.

Re: [DEC 5th New Telus Radio V1.04.05V] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Thread

Hey all, I've been swapping radios for about a month trying them all. I got good reception on all so I won't bother talking about that. I will instead focus on battery life relative to the other radios. I'll give average battery life left after an 8 hr work day (9 hrs after unplugging from charger). I'm on Sprint on Orange County California, here are my findings.

Stock 1.00.00 = sucked. lol I would be lucky to get 10 or 12 hours on a charge.
25-30% left after 9 hrs, Score 5

vzw 1.03.03v = seemed to have best battery life, but had frequent problems locking touch screen and sending/receiving text messages (I would get messages hours late and "Message not sent" notifications days after I sent the message. DAYS!!). I had no issues with GPS as has been reported, but never used GPS for any extended period of time.
65-70% left after 9 hrs, Score 10 (battery). 7 overall because of problems

Sprint Raph 1.03.15F = Good battery life (not quite as good as vzw but still up there) but no issues.
60-65% left after 9 hrs, Score 9

tellus 1.04.05v = seemed to be a step backward as far as battery life.
40-50% left after 9 hrs, Score 7

So for what it's worth I'm sticking with the Sprint raph 1.03.15F because it's the best battery with no issues.
