Re: [UPDATED Bench Marked Results post 75 ] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Rom Thread
I flashed the VZ Raphael radio with no problems. Data worked right after the hard reset. It's been a few hours, and I have to say both battery life and somehow signal quality in my basement seems to be much better. Calls used to be dropped or just horrible in general in my basement, but now they're perfect...

Re: [UPDATED Bench Marked Results post 75 ] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Rom Thread
Ok so I flashed the VZW TouchPro radio last night and I'm back now to post results after a full day's use.
Stock Sprint Radio: I would leave work 9 hours after unplugging it from the charger with about 20% battery left. All radio's but the phone turned off, and hotmail syncing once an hour. I did a test once from 100% to totally dead, (til it turned itself off) and it was 11 hours. Reception was about 2-3 bars at home and at work. Discharge at idle was 135mA-153mA with screen brightness set to auto. 73mA at standby (I think) I ran 10 speed tests right before flashing. Here are the results: IE speed tests: #1=848kb/s, #2=173kb/s, #3=1503kb/s, #4=1545kb/s, #5=1605kb/s Opera speed test #1=965kb/s, #2=1046kb/s, #3=971kb/s, #4=630kb/s, #5=821kb/s Verizon TouchPro Radio: I left work at the same time today, 9 hours after unplugging the phone from the charger and I had 60% battery left with similar usage and all else same. All radio's off except phone, and hotmail syncing once an hour. I haven't done a test to see how many hours til it totally dies cuz I can't have a dead phone and no charger with me on a Friday night. That would be suicide! I'll have to do it sometime next week. I didn't notice any real change in reception quality. 2-3 bars at home and work. Calls were just as clear as before. Discharge at idle is 57mA-93mA with screen brightness set to auto (also in the same lighting condition, ie exact same spot under the exact same lights in my room) and 13mA at standby (again I think). Here's the same 10 speed tests on the VZW Radio: IE speed test: #1=1024kb/s, #2=954kb/s, #3=284kb/s, #4=880kb/s, #5=? I guess I accidentally deleted this result =) Opera speed test: #1=685kb/s, #2=1024kb/s, #3=1075kb/s, #4=920kb/s, #5=850kb/s Final verdict: I don't have a bunch of hi-tech tools/methods to check these things, just a simple speed test on dslreports and HTC Battery Monitor. I got greatly improved battery life at the expense of data speeds. I did a little math to try to put things into perspective and I was shocked at the results. Data speed on VZW is about 75% what it was on Sprint. But battery life... I got twice the battery life on the VZW radio rom! 22.5(calculated)hrs vs 11hrs! I'll take twice the battery life over slightly faster data speeds ANY day... Flashing took less than 5 minutes and was easy as can be (READ ALL PRECAUTIONS IN THE FIRST POST!!!). Well worth the hard reset! Now just waiting for Juicy 2.6 and this phone will be killing it! Awesome work Juggalo! Thanks so much! Last edited by los1223; 10-24-2008 at 09:51 PM. |

Re: [UPDATED Bench Marked Results post 75 ] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Rom Thread
I thought I'd add in my experience with the VZW radio.
First off, I've never gotten home after work and had my battery life at 70%. Typically by this time it would be around 30% or 40%. Right off the bat, battery life is improved significantly. Also, I noticed some people observing that their data speed has gone down. For me, I'm experiencing the opposite. Maybe Sprint has improved their speeds overall in my area, or its just a fluke, but I'm finally getting 1000kb/s+ consistently, whereas I was getting around 700k to 800k consistently. My last test was 1200kb/s. Not too shabby for me. Overall, I'm a HUGE fan of this new radio. Thanks for offering it up to the community! |

Re: [UPDATED Bench Marked Results post 75 ] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Rom Thread
I flashed to the VZ radio early this morning and it was running smoothly, but now I am too getting connection errors while updating weather. Everything else runs fine. Don't really notice too much of a difference though between the two radios concerning battery life and reception.

Re: [UPDATED Bench Marked Results post 75 ] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Rom Thread
Is anyone here on the VZW radio having huge issues after heavy gps usage. The reason I ask is this. VZWs radio requires their LBS driver to authenticate GPS progs with the verizon server. When i flashed the radio, i started having severe issues with my phone. The screen would turn black and vibrate until reset. Upon reboot, it would keep doing a reboot cycle until u pulled the battery for 10-15 minutes. Any one else experiencing this on the VZW radio or any other radio?
