Tutorial For Installing Android On Your Diamond

I have repackaged everything that you need to run Android on your diamond. I will stay updated with the latest and greatest files to make this as easy as possible for you all!

1. Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WW1HOK5Y ------ 3/31/2010

2.Extract everything from the package straight into your internal storage. DO NOT place the files in a folder within internal storage or it will not work.

3.Boot Haret.exe. The first process will take a few minutes. You will come to a calibration setup. Be sure to press the white boxes quickly and lightly as it tends to double press and..... Welcome Android!:mrgreen:

4.Go to the link in the first post to better understand Android and how it works on our devices!

• Power collapse now works, so power consumption should be much lower when the screen is turned off.
• Microphone is now working

• The "end call" button takes the phone in and out of sleep
• Android's "Menu" button is mapped to the top-left/Home button. The 5-way pad and the scroll ring both work.
• Android's "Home" button is mapped to the power button on top of the phone.
• DATA working by adding an APN under Settings->Wireless&Networks->Mobile Networks->APN. Add a new APN with "name": Android "APN": internet.Save and soft reset.(Thanks toenail)
• To sync contacts you Sync them to google account (hardly any point in using Android if you don't have one), then when you set up Android, you'll be asked for your google account, which will automatically sync everything. (Thanks Shaned 197)

Thanks amikam. You should try it. Android is VERY close to being able to use for everyday use. Not to mention its always nice to be able to switch between two different interfaces when one gets boring! :laughing6:

Where would I find the Andriod package for the diamond? I tried putting the one on for TP2, but it won't boot to andriod?

I have never played with andriod either, a few quick pointer for us noobs?! :)

This ROM is awesome. I've got Android installed and working for the most part. The major issue I'm having is that I can't get the headphones to work. I just wanted to see if you too had this issue.

Will this ROM have a good battery life?I am talking specific about Diamond.
Can I make my diamond to boot only always Android?

I could not get the touch screen to work with your android files...I went with the 1-24 build from xda and it worked. Is there something I am missing?

yea i get the same issue. They should be having a fix for this soon.

Battery life is great! if you want to just boot android then highlight Android, Autoboot, And Fastboot to go through the process quicker.

I just noticed that myself. I got these files this morning and im just now testing them. Im guessing its the calibration file because when i press randomly on my screen it picks up something but its not where im pressing. I will test without the file and see what happens.

Followed these directions and I also have no touch screen function with android. Possible you crated a bug when you re-packaged?

I noticed that the only part of the screen that reacts is a small block size in the bottom right corner. I managed to get into the phone and was pressing all the numbers from that bottom right corner. Weird. Il revert back to the 1/24 build which i know works. The 2/2 build isnt a big update for us CDMA diamond users anywayz so there wont be any features lost.

I am confused, in the thread for diamond users the files are dated 1/27 not 1/24. Which one is working.

Those files are for the CDMA diamond only. It contains certain files that are needed for android to be ran on our diamonds. The 1/24 date is ALL the Android files needed to be ran on any device. The 1/27 files overwrites certain files in the 1/24 Files. I knew it would become confusing and thats why i package everything ready to go for you all!:mrgreen:

New link up For Android Files. IMPORTANT: Delete the ts.calibration file from your internal storage that was created from the calibration config from the first files I posted if you downloaded the 2/2 files.

very nice rom but i am having problem booting android. on touch teh an droid screen my scre nis messed up. it wont touch. and the buttons are all off. whats the problem?

Ok I got Android installed and running with the 02/02 release, however:

-There's no data connectivity or texting from what I can tell.

-I can make calls and hear the person on the other end but the mic doesnt work so I can't talk. (They cant hear me)

-Unable to recieve calls.

That's all Ive tested so far, but I have to say that's enough to scrap it. Is there something I'm missing or is it really not usable at this point?

From what I have heard, it is missing these key ingredients to being usable. I just really want to load it and shove it in my Iphone friends' faces :) and don't let them know it doesn't have appropriate functionality!

Yeah I thought that it was still a far ways from being usable but I saw this ROM and thought maybe it had evolved a lot in the past few weeks. Definately worth it once it's all ported and working

I have everything working but the mic. Kind of important :). It was pretty cool to play with, thanks for making this easy for me to try out, I had been looking at it for a few days now but didnt have the courage to try it out. Good job!

Hmm, I wonder if I did something wrong? Surely the 2/02 update didnt take away the text and data that 1/24 had. :scratch: Either way if I cant use it practically then I guess I'll still wait for a fully functional version.

Yea but to device memory to get the autoboot feature.

Download the updated files i posted and make sure you delete the ts.calibration file in your internal storage.

Data And text works fine for me. The mic doesnt work right now straight from android but if you make a call in winmo and boot to android while your in that call then it will work. I know its not perfect but it is getting better and better as the days past. Not to long ago you couldn't do ANYTHING but look at the interface. Its not ready for everyday use yet but it will be soon.

lol sounds like a plan but pretty soon here you'll be able to do everything a droid phone does on our winmo phones!

So would the mic continue to work for subsequent calls (assuming I dont restart) or would that have to be done each time a call was made? Just curious.

A few more questions maybe you guys can answer...
1. Freezing? I had it on for no longer than 20 minutes playing around and it froze as I tried to set up facebook

2. Importing contacts? Have they established an easy way to do this?

3. So if I make a phone call.. stay on the line.. click haret.exe.. and then end the phone call once android is up and loaded I will be able to use the mic for any next phone call I make?

That is what MrPippy said but i couldnt get the phone to make a call when i did that. Maybe Something went wrong somewhere when i did it. If any of you are willing to give it a try and report back it would be very appreciated. and yes you'll get freezes and lockups on android from what ive heard but i have not yet but it is not ready for everyday use.

woooow. android is sooo friggin good. its faster, smoother, cuter, and much more versatile. i can't wait till it gets stabilzed for everyday use. lol, windows is pretty poopy after it, but your skin is very nice. waiting for generic rom...
