I've also found that after downloading GoogleVoice from the marketplace, when I open up the app it has you verify your GoogleVoice account and autofills your regular google account in, which would be fine.. BUT, it hangs on trying to sign-in. Just cancel the sign-in and manually enter your account info (Username/password), then sign-in. That should work!

GoogleVoice is the primary reason I'm using Android. I also found an app through Gizmodo.com called CallTrack that takes all your calls from the Android phone and puts them on one of your Google Calendars. I created one called GoogleVoice, so when use GV for work I can go back and see when and how many calls I made. CallTrack is in the Marketplace.

Also, if you are trying to get free calls through your Friends and Family or whatever, make sure you add the access number that Android uses for GoogleVoice. When I used WinMo to dial, I used the calling card method, so I just needed my own GV number in my F&F, but when you dial a number with GV from Android it will flash a number like +1-234-567-8901 . That's the number that needs to be added to your F&F since that's how Android GV dials out.

Whew, I hope that little write-up helps someone!

I install and signed in to my Google Voice account. I chose, "ask me which way to dial out" in the settings so GV will ask me each time I make a call but I'm unable to dial out using GV, at all. In Winmo, I use MagiCall which automatically dials in my GV pin and routes my calls through GV. I'm not sure what you mean by calling card method, do you mean the GV pin number needs to be added to the phone number somehow?

Hmm.. I'm not too sure about your Android Google Voice issue... Here's my process:
1. Download Google Voice from the Android Marketplace (make sure it's the one from Google, Inc.)
2. Open "Voice" from the programs list.
3. Delete my auto-fill account info. Enter my actual GV account info. Sign in.
4. Walk all the way through the settings, set to ask every time I make a call, hit skip on the voicemail setup, finish.
5. Test calling. When I select a contact and hit the phone button, it asks me call with googlevoice or call without googlevoice...

Other than that, I don't know what to tell you.

Regarding the calling card method, Android and WinMo use slightly different access numbers; WINMO, regardless of what program is being used, likely always uses your personal GV number as the calling card, so if you only use WinMo, you only need to add your personal GV number in to get free calls. ANDROID, however, uses the official GV app to dial, which maintains a list of local access numbers (likely to cut down on Google's costs), dials the access number instead of your personal GV number, so you must watch while Android GV dials a number and it will flash the access number it is calling at the top, looking like +1-234-567-8901 . Whatever number that is flashed is the one that needs added to your F&F to get free outgoing calls, and your personal number needs added to get free incoming calls (as long as your GV account is configured to show your GV number when receiving a call).

Hope that helps!
jakewill

P.S. - I'm excited to see your new WinMo ROM, Fresh!
