I'm not sure if you read my whole post or just pulled out the section you liked. It was rather long so I can understand the reluctance to read and digest it all...

I'm not talking about cell phone users specifically. I'm talking about the government and their new look at the populus as their primary enemy alongside the removal of almost every right afforded to us in the Bill of Rights. This can only go on for so long...

As the famous poem goes...

Quote:
First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak out for me.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_they_came...

Right now we're told to give up all these rights to fight terrorists. It is only a matter of time before this immense amount of information they are gathering and accessing on us without due process get pushed into other areas. As it has continued to do so.

There has to come a correction point. Either we accept it and the government turns into some form of government where we don't have the freedoms we used to or the people will end up revolting until we get them back.

As Thomas Jefferson so famously said... People are wiling to suffer greatly under a government because people don't like to rise up and change them often, but the injustices can only continue for so long before they do so.

Quote:
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Declara...d_States)#Text

It is important for our country to remember why we were founded in the first place. We came into being by the government of Great Britan continuing to usurpe the power of the people.

I'm not saying the correction is coming today or even in the next decade. I'm not fortune teller. I'm just acknoqledging the path we're on.

I'm very sorry you distrust the government, the police, mass transit, communications providers, mass media, and whatever else you can think of.

In my daily life I have only one big concern when it comes to trust - that which I place in my fellow drivers on the road. They will kill me in an instant without a thought and with no effort at all.

I was responding to the initial claims by Unknown Zone that it was perfectly fine that the government could do anything they wanted with 9/11 as a blank check. That's why my initial comments were directly to him.

Also, I'm not sure why you branded me as not trusting mass transit and various things. I don't trust or mistrust entities that aren't human. I reserve that for individual people.

I'm just stating my observations...

Re: Sprint gives over ALL YOUR information to Police - 8 million times!

Sorry I don't have time to read the whole thread but it sounds like people are upset that they are doing it without probable cause. When I had Alltel they said you had to have a police warrant. If Sprint is doing it this way then that's probably illegal.

But seriously, Im not really comfortable with Sprint giving out location info for "non-emergency" purposes.

Re: Sprint collecting data on users! GPS and Browsing!

Wow. That's kind of disturbing. I personally could care less if Sprint or the police knows that I look at funny cat pictures & read Twilight fan fics all day long, but this just strikes me as unsavory. I would imagine they would only do this in cooperation with police investigations, not as standard practice.

Good thing I keep my location off. Although- does that really stop anything? Ew I'm starting to get kind of wierded out here :S
