can sprint force me off plan?

I have an awesome plan that is really cheap. I have been on it since March or April of 2009. I just received a letter from Sprint stating that since this plan is no longer offered to new or existing customers I must change my plan to a plan that is currently offered. I was wondering if Sprint can force me off my plan? BTW I have 5 lines. 4 are on contract til mid 2010 and 1 is no longer on contract if that matters. Thanks in advance.

Re: can sprint force me off plan?

Check the terms of your plan. As long as you are under contract and your terms state that Sprint can't change it you are fine.

Re: can sprint force me off plan?

I can't imagine that they can change your plan mid contract, but on the out of contract line you might be outta luck.

Re: can sprint force me off plan?

Yes, they can. But it will void your contract as well, so you can leave at any point. That being said you may be able to get account services to work something out for you.

Re: can sprint force me off plan?

im sure every company TOS policy has something like they can terminate your service anytime and for any reason. so the answer is yes and they are doing it.

im not sure what type of dirt cheap plan you have, but yes, sprint is canceling those 2.50 dollar a month account with 1000 anytime minutes. these accounts werent meant to be offered to the public. i suppose this is something that you just enjoy it while it last.

Re: can sprint force me off plan?

Technically they can. However, when they make a change to you plan you have a 30 day (I believe) window to cancel your contract. Either that, or you contract is automatically void.

Make sure you call and have your contract cancelled so you have leverage in the future.

Re: can sprint force me off plan?

Buy a tethering plan and go well over the 5GB limit and you can get out. *snicker* But you do lose your phone number this way too I think.

Would they just cancel you for this or charge you for the overage?

Re: can sprint force me off plan?

Yes they can. They are actively phasing out the JC plan, as it was intended for Katrina victim relief. It's a little outdated. Those are the only plans that I know Sprint is doing this with.

Call executive services and negotiate a good deal, most people getting booted off the JC plan are getting SERO rates, or something close to it.
