Verizon Sucks...I do not want a DATA PLAN!

I was going to bite the bullet and get a droid but I was told I am ineligible for an upgrade (see other thread). Now I plan on leaving Verizon in July but I need a phone to tide me over and replace my cracked screen I760. What can I buy and activate that Verizon will not FORCE me to get an unlimited data plan (I use wifi and have a pay as you go data plan that I dont use) I know there are a plethora of regular phones that I can get, but I want a ppc. Is buying a not broken I760 my best bet?
